My computer crashed a few months back..along with my I-tunes.  :-[  My I-pod still has all the music though.

This computer doesn't have I-tunes on it yet.  I'm downloading it tonight though.  Can I export all my music from my I-pod to this computer once I get I-tunes??

You have  a PC right?

If so, mount your ipod as a HD on your desktop (google how to do it, easy to figure out).  Then, set windows to show hidden files (again, google it).  Then you can browse through your ipod like it was a regular old hard drive and copy the music from the ipod to your local HD.

If you've got a Mac, Senuti will do the trick: http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/

For Windows, I've heard good things about SharePod: http://www.getsharepod.com/

In other news, the Turlington pics make my day every time I see them.   ;D

I use podutil.  I don't know if it is still available through the internet.  If you just drag and drop you will have no song info and have to go through and rename them.  At least you use to have to.  When I went through the database on the iPod all the songs had four letter names i.e. KDFE and there was no way to tell what was what.

Look for a program to rip stuff off the iPod.  Podutil is available, just not for free anymore.  Whatever you do, DO NOT LET IT SYNC, ouch.

... I'm totally cool with my friends saying "You remember when William bit it?!  That was awesome!  How do you explode in a fireball while being crushed under a waterfall?!  I don't think I'll beat that..."

+1 to the "DO NOT LET iTunes Synch your music" you will lose it all. In fact, do not install iTunes, till after you have copied the music to your hard drive.

1. Use one of the tools or steps already suggested to copy your music onto the computer.
2. Unplug your iPod from the PC.
3. Install iTunes.
4. Have iTunes find your music on your PC.
5. Only after iTunes has your music should you ever plug the iPod back into the PC.

How I did it... I have seen to many people lose the music... and reburning 300+ cds onto my pc would suck.

I had sharepod on my old iPod 80gb video and it worked flawlessly.  It stores in your iPod files, so it takes up NO actual space on your iPod.  Only problem I had was when I switched from XP Pro to Vista, I had to download the program again.
Turn it off man, turn it off!  It's sucking my will to live!
