The lady has been wanting a beach cruiser for a while, and after pricing them out, buying her one wasn't in the budget.

so a little over a month ago i picked up this baby on Craigslist and suprised her with it on our 6mo. anniversary.
really the only thing that is "wrong" with it, is the broken handlebar.... it rides great and the tires hold air!
(ignore the mess)




i told her she can pick out the color of paint but that's it, the rest is up to me  [evil]

well today was the first day of deconstruction...


the big gray bar you see was what i had to use to get the pedals off the crank.   [roll]

hey look, the original color!





next is to finish stripping the several layers of old paint, then prime and paint with the new stuff.

the kona is my roomates (his 2nd) he had his and his friends on a roof rack on a car.... roof rack came off, his bike took the force, yadda yadda yadda, $1300 bike ruined

Got around to painting it last weekend.

next - i'm going to try my hand at pinstriping, throw a clear coat on it and then reassembly!

dont be such a woman about it.  ive actually told people that if they buy the paint, a hundred bucks or so, and pay to have it done i will paint my bike any color they choose.  we never decided on how long i would have to leave it that way but the discussion always starts at 6mo-1year.  a real man could ride a pink bike.

i've never really done any pinstriping before - so be gentle...






an artist always signs their work right?  ;)


i need to clean up around the edges a bit on what hast been done, and i think i'm going to throw a bit more on the verticle tube
