I was just reading that article.  You're not creating "life". To create life is to create something from absolutely nothing.  They are using "genetic code" or rather, something that already exists and reanimating a "new" organism. 

You cant "steal" code from a particular computer program or use parts of that code and say that you created something from nothing.

As far as im willing to give is the ability to reanimate something. Not the ability to create something from nothing which is the "leap" that people will make and stubbornly hold on to when in reality, it was something made from something which happens to be "animated".
