i was wondering about something....

the board is called the "Ducati Monster Forum"

the web address is "Ducati Monster Wordwide"

why the difference?

and,.........leading into the pot stirring part.

i kind of like the sound of Ducati Monster Word Wide...especially after seeing Corey's graphics in the thread about a new log for the board.

.......just sayin.......... cheeky

the domain name is kind of unwieldy, but it's a little late for that feedback now  Wink

It's the "So Who Wants Bragging Rights?" thread, stuck at the top of the board.

just "Ducati Monster World"
+1

Its like when we were the DML people always thought "WTF?" cause no one thinks of list, although Forum comes more naturally it's not reflected in the URL...

I did a quick Whois search and it looks like (dicatimonsterforum.org) is owned by
somebody else. The owners name is hidden.

I think the flounders own that name also, not VS.

When we decided to do a board, we bought about 6 domain names at once.  We just picked one to start building with, ducati monster world wide.  We got the forum software up and running, then started talking about forum names, and the DMF seemed logical.

But, nothing is concrete at the moment.  It is on the list of things to do, finalize domain, forum name, and logo.

It does seem like it would be good to have a name that is more likely to be found by a google search for "ducati monster forum."

As of now, you have to actually add the words "worldwide" to your search to find this place. Obviously, nobody would ever do that without knowing we were here, so that means every hit this site gets is from DML members. In order to grow, it seems like it might be necessary to get google search hits too.

Then again, I don't even know if growth is the goal?

No- ve vant vorldvide DOMINATION!

I agree with Alex.  To continue to pull in new Monster enthusiast types it will be necessary to have folks find it from the outside more easily than breaking into the Matrix.  If it doesn't pop in www searches then the effort will have to be more grass roots and manual.  We'd have to post the URL everywhere and hope that it doesn't get VS'd (www.********************.com).

We were front page google searching for 'ducati monster forum' last night.  It'll get there.

we own the domain names that match the forum name.  decisions mean inertia means we'll get to it later.   Grin
