I smiled on the 12th.

for a brief moment, there was no black, there was no white

people were polite
people hugged

tomorrow, is the day I celebrate.

Well said. I was in downtown DC seven years ago today, and seven years ago tomorrow, and you hit the nail on the head. I fervently believe it's possible and worth striving for that community we felt on September 12 every day. And when we fall short of it, waking up the next morning and trying again.

They had the signing of beams last night (people can sign their names on a S beam that was gonna go up as part of the monument thats taking forever) and the lights went on the night before.

Most people remember it, and just don't feel like thinking about it. Atleat thats the case with everyone ive met today.

there were flags (a LOT) at every overpass i went by today.  i cried some.

but the circle of life returns... my girlfriend just passed her citizenship test a few hours ago.  long live america!

myself, and everyone I know remembers exactly where they were.

Another thing I remember...  I was in college in Boston when all this happened.  I remember walking through the Christian Science Center on one of the first days that they allowed planes to fly over the city again.  everyone  stopped and looked up.  It was a very very weird feeling.

myself, and everyone I know remembers exactly where they were.

I remember talking to my parents that night and coming to the conclusion that it was my generation's "Kennedy assassination moment."

I was in a college chemistry class. Guy came in and was talking about the first plane having hit. We all thought it was an accident at that point so it was almost like a novelty. That soon changed.

I also remember that like 3 days later my friends and I decided that we were tired of feeling horribly depressed over something we couldn't do anything to change and we all got together, drank margaritas and watched "The Emperor's New Groove." A lot of pent-up tension got let out through laughter. Didn't make the events any less horrific, but kind of emphasized that we all still had some living to do.
