National weather service says GTFO or die.
Estimates Ike will hit Galveston tomorrow night between 10pm and 2am as a strong category 2 or 3 with 50' waves and 22' storm surge.
Mandatory evacuation for Galveston.
This week marks the 108th anniversary of the 1900 hurricane ahich hit Galveston and killed over 5000 people.
Anybody here in the danger zone?

Hopefully they're smart enough to get off the computer and GTFO.

Travel safe Texans and good luck.

Should his craziness really be unleashed further than this forum?

I fear for Texas.  :-)

The Texas folks that I know that live on the coast are already in the Austin area if not in the process.  There are plenty of DFW DMFers with spare beds for them if need be [thumbsup]

Update

Things are getting pretty hairy down in galveston, about 50 miles from where I'm at, Ike is supposed to go up to a Category 3 pretty soon.

I've been holed up in my house all day. I'm slowly going insane...

From what I see on the local news channels, Galveston is totally devastated. I'm a student at UTMB in Galveston and it's heart breaking to see the damage.  :'(

I'm asking everyone on the board that comes across this message to send thoughts and prayers to everyone out here. If you can, donate to the Red Cross. Yesterday I heard a spokesman for the Red Cross anounce on CNN that they are nearly out of funds and had to borrow money for the damage Gustav caused. Now this will definitely put the Red Cross in the red, so if you can donate a little $$, do it. Trust me, us Texans are worth it.  [cheeky]

I'm safely tucked away at work in a Houston Hospital, luckily our power is still on. We are one of only a handful of hospitals that still have power without resorting to a back up generator for electrical support. I've been in contact with other peers that are at other hospitals that have suffered extensive wind damage, flooding, and loss of power. The roads are a mess and most of the metro Houston area is without power. Don't know what my home will look like when I'm able to get there, but I'm hoping it's not a tragedy. Last night I was thinking how odd I thought it was that I wasn't concerned about my Ducs. I have too much other crap to worry about. Priorities change quickly when disaster strikes.

DMF is the Dallas folks. Bryant has posted on the THCM (where the Houston area folks call home) expressing concern for us Houston peeps. Before even reading his post on this thread, I already knew Bryant and those DMF'ers would be willing to help. Good peeps, those DMF'ers.  [thumbsup]
