Do axle sliders work?

I have frame sliders on, but was thinking of also putting on front axle sliders., but not sure if they will help. I figured the the frame sliders and handle bar will take most of the hit and just leave forks elevated.

  Good question NYCmonster! Iwondered that myself. Hope nobody has ever had to find out, unfortunatly i`m sure there are some experienced individuals out there. Please share, inquiring minds want to know.

As with all sliders/protectors...in some cases they work, and in some cases they don't. 

Obviously your worried about damaging your forks, so go ahead and get them...however...

If you haven't upgraded your forks yet, and you have a 620, f' it...just bust them up.  It will give you a good reason to upgrade.

It's better to have and not need then need and not have.  Either way, hope you never need any of them!

Not sure how much good front axle sliders will do, but I know that rear axle sliders would have done me some good back in May.

They're on the "to-get" list for when I upgrade my forks over the winter.

I do not have the axle sliders and my bike has been down twice.  The bike suffered no impacts that the axle would have prevented.  Down #1 was a 60mph slide after hitting a branch(lying parallel with the road) in a corner, front end slid out and the contact points were handlebar, left side case, and shifter lever.  The down #2 was a failure on my part to fully extend the weak kick-stand and the bike fell contacting only the shift lever and the end of the handlebar.  If you have limited resources there are many things that would benefit you more than axle sliders.  I must also point out that I have frame sliders and bar end sliders, both of which worked in fine form.

That's what makes sense to me too, but the proof is out there.  The forks do sometime get rashed.  I don't know how, but I've seen 'em.
