MMM... Some interesting stuff being written here.
Lets start at the back; A 190 will not fit due to the width, as it will definately hit the chain, doesnt really make much of a difference handling wise, having said this my rear tyre is a 180/55 super corsa but its actually 5mm narrower than the shinko 180 that I had previously all comes down to profile.
Front; for us 70 series is the way to go, as 60 series for our crap roads will lead to dented rims I promise you (ducati rims are notoriously soft) so stick to 70 series, the way your bike steers will depend on the profile of the tyre, if its 'v' shaped it will turn quickly compared to 'u' shaped profile, I prefer the 'V' profile so it will drop onto its side nice and easy. The down side to that is its less stable in a straight line, but I dont find that much of a problem.
I normally get my tyres from Craig White of Whites Racing he stocks all major (and not so major) brands, and I always ask him what the 250 proddie guys are using, and end up sticking that on the front, my reason is that the Monster is so light at the front that I figure a 250 tyre wont chew out too quickly and so far I wear the sides of the front out about the same time as I wear the middle of the rear.
Hope that
clouded
cleared the issue somewhat.
