Got some QD mid-pipes and put them on tonight.  I haven't turned the bike on as I didn't want to wake up the wife & baby but will take it out for a spin tomorrow morn.

Somewhat easy install...removing the cat sure makes the bike look super nice and if it sounds just a tad like it did when I turned the thing on w/out the mufflers..oh boy...good times.

It will sound much better than stock. That being said, you will need to get an unrestricted silencer. The baffles in the stock silencers are fairly restrictive. It looks so much better without the udder.

Wow....this thing RUMBLES now!!  It gives a really nice sound and flows much smoother.  The RPMs go up unrestricted in an almost stupid fashion....

So far I'm really happy with this little mod.

It RUNS just fine...I'm still getting used to it as I only rode to work this morning.  It does feel a little loose down low, I would almost describe it as having the 15T sprocket type of feel (I have a 14T on now) - but I'm talking around 10 - 15 mph speed...it's nothing more noticeable then that.  Realistically the bike is running fine, lots of air flow, I was at 9K rpm on 2nd while getting on the on ramp and I didn't even realize it till I looked down.  Acceleration is very smooth and deceivingly fast.

It's a true bolt on, I removed the stock cat, bolted this thing up, hosed clamped everything and that's it.  The only modification was having to loosen up the lambda sensor wiring so that it can reach the new location on the pipes (picture 2) vs. the stock udder location.  Stock ECU, stock air box, stock air filter, stock pipes.

So far no back fire.  I haven't hit the twisties yet so I can't really say how it will perform under those conditions.  On the ride to work I tried a few quick decelerations w/only engine breaking and I got no poping.  I will tell you this, there is more gas odor emanating from the bike then before, but I believe that's expected.

You are the 3rd person today that has mentioned that....I'll do it...I just didn't want to do it last night as it was getting late and I was done for the night.

Looks Really good! You gonna core those cans? Where did you get the mid pipe and how much?

Hey Brian, I'm not going to core the cans, it's loud enough already w/this little mod.  I got the mid-pipes from another forum member for $250 - MotoWheels sells the same kit for $425.

It was too good a price to pass up so I took the bait just to try it out.  So far, I'm glad I did.

Here are a couple of pics that show the new mid-pipes in their entirety.





I paid close attention to the sound on my way home from work and didn't hear any popping.  6th gear went back to being useless unless you are doing over 100mph - at 65mph on 6th the bike runs at 4500 RMP or so and lacks the immediate throttle response.

That quickly changes by going down to 4th  Grin
