Race Fairings

Since my bike is getting more track time on it than street time, I'm starting to think about ditching the head light and getting something that will give me a little more of a bubble in the straights.  The only monster fairing I can find is this  http://www.advancedmotorsports.com/Monster-Race-Fairing-p/18213.htm and I can't find a picture of it mounted on a bike anywhere.  I've searched the forum, because I know someone posted a pic of a bike with this style of fairing on it somewhere, although it may have been on that last shipwreak that we all deserted a couple of months ago.  Does anyone have a picture of this or any other race fairing mounted on a bike, or any other leads on where I might be able to pick one up?  Thanks, John.

This is very interesting.  Any ideas on how you would mount it to the bike?  I have thought of doing this as well but with a ss800/1000 upper.  This seems more practical and better suited for a monster.  I have sent them an email to see what they suggest.  If you find a pic please send it to me.

A couple folks have mounted full fairings to Monsters, IIRC 916 and 999 bodies.

It looks like it only covers the nose of the bike... Seems like it would still leave a lot of your engine and that whole are exposed.

yeah someone on the forum posted a pciture of about 5 racebike 620s i think. the yellow one has this fairing mounted on it. can't remember the name of the post though.

That's not the same fairing is it?   The one he linked to appears to take an old-style wind screen.

Correct...that yellow one is not the same.

My advice from racing Monsters is this...the little fairing will help but mounting a full fairing makes a huge difference. I race against that yellow bike (mine is the one in that pic on the left), and he has a hard time at high speeds. Those of us with full fairings are able to pass him on the straights fairly easily. He likes to tuck in behind us and draft because he has almost no wind deflection and it's not great for high speeds. That extra wind protection makes a huge difference not only in the bike's performance but in your fatigue level.
It's worse if you are on a high speed track vs. a slower track. I'm racing this weekend on a smaller, slower course so the Monsters without fairings are on a more level playing field.

Is there a practical way of installing a full fairig so it can be removed for street use, or installed in such a way where tabs don't have to weleded to the frame?  Just thinking of the wekend warrior types (me) who like to ride the bike on the street during the week.

Sure but no one makes the parts. Be creative. Have some clamps machined to fit your frame and fab up a front fairing stay...piece of cake, just takes some work.

I'm not really interested in a full fairing, I want my bike to still look like a monster.  I've got a magazine here with some Desmodue Cup race bikes in it, and a few have half fairings on them, a few have 916 kits, and one or two look like they have 999 kits.  Unfortunately, I can't find any pictures online to share.  What I really want is to mount a half fairing, race belly pan and solo seat.  I'm getting enough speed on the straight(I chicken out at about 250km/hr indicated), but I'm finding that my helmet is mashed into my face and I'm pulling back on the bars really hard at this point.  I'm not too worried about making up mounts etc, and I'm really only thinking about this because I like to jack around with my bike during the winter.  It keeps me sane when I can't ride.  I might pick up a DUC91C fairing from here http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintagefairings.htm and see where that takes me.  I'll post pic's as things progress.
