wheel stripe

hi guys, since i took all the reflectors off my bike, i thought a good mod would be the wheel stripe - from my understanding they also act as reflectors? If so, how hard are they to put on, and where can i get them? my bike is a black on red frame 695- so if anyone has any pictures of a similar bike with a wheel stripe i would love to see it.

Years ago I bought my wheel stripes from this guys:

But I also heard that local auto stores sell a similar product for a fraction of the price listed above.  They do/will act as reflectors and it's fairly easy to put on.  Now putting them on perfectly curved is a different matter.

At a minimum, you'll need to put the bike on a stand so you can easily rotate the wheels.  An even better scenario is to actually remove the wheels so you can have maximum play.  The latter is probably more of pain in the ass then it's worth so using front/rear stands and taking your time will be your best bet.

www.glsigns.com has them precurved in four sections so no need to take off wheel or worry about curving straight tape.

just got my set of white reflective for my white 696. will try to find a camera to post pics after i do it this weekend.

I got mine from the best in the business, PJsParts. They don't carry everything, and I'm not sure if they stocked this, but they got it for me on request. The bag says CarpiMoto. HUGE selling point: the kit comes with an applicator which helps you control it - still quite difficult though. Take your TIME!
+1 on the AraiSpeed's advice - on rear and front stands and better yet, also on a work bench. Did you listen? TAKE YOUR TIME

Cycle Gear has the Motrax brand. I used it on a couple of bikes and it stands up. Had em on my stockers on the RS:



and they are reflective

There are stripes, and then there are REFLECTIVE stripes. Tapeworks sells both kinds, precurved, in various colors. If you really want them to act as replacement reflectors, get the ones that specifically say "reflective".

I didn't realized they now sell them pre-curved...I just got the straight tape and it never came out 100%.

I bought a set of these from these guys for my S2R, very well made, easy to fit, and lots of spares in case of damage from tyre changing or any of life's little mishaps.

Handy for the Aussies cruising the DMF 
But of course I now note he sells to overseas customers as well.

I also went with Tapeworks for my stripes.  They are more expensive for what they are, but they have a nice picture chart so I felt good about the color match, also I liked the stripe width over some of the other brands.  Being one straight section they are not the easiest to install, but I was also worried about matching up the 4 sections.  Definitely, definitely use front and rear stands and go slow.

If you go to the Rimsticker website (Link in my post above) He has a little Vid which shows you how to put the stickers on without a stand, I followed his directions and had the job done start to finish in about 30 mins.
I was more looking at how he applies the stickers.

Has anyone tried the soapy water method on reflective tape? It makes things soooo much easier and would be perfect for the straight stripes.

i put on some double gold stripe...not hard, jsut take your time
i got it at a local parts store for 6 bu, enough to do i would say 4 wheels both sides

Got mine in a mall down here in the PI, easy to install,just take your time.Then i had it clear coated.

Raux, the wheel stripe looks great on your bike. Also, painting the headlight housing makes such a HUGE difference. I have been thinking about doing that as well, and it might be my project for this weekend. I won't lie, the headlight on my 696 dark is my least favorite part. But making it all black...
