Hey Betty,
I have evaluated everyones OzMo bikes over the past year, patiently not doing any bling or perf mods to my current 620 while I learn to ride etc...
I have checked out all the new ones, 696, 796, 1100, the new 1100 Evo, even considered a Streetfighter/S... but; just like hypercolour tshirts, baggy pants and mullets haircuts I reckon in 5 years time those silly tank air intake things, visors and even the current trestle shape will be the ugly ducklings of the Monster family, while the current shaped tanks, trestles and bra's will still look awesome...
IMHO
I dont need any more power than the 620 delivers, the limiting factor on my riding is me and my (lack of) cornering speed!
So, on my shopping list is-
1. Dont want to have to fuel as frequent as the S4R's
2. Dry clutch for that Ducati rattle
3. Pre-current shape
4. Termi noise
Price is no real issue... I figure whatever I dont spend on the bike I will just have to spend in conversions/bling'ing it to an acceptable OzMo level and to the specs that I wanna have in the long while.
For example

Sorry, but I have no idea what a Melvin-mobile is? I hope it's not a scooter?!?

So Rod you could well have a buyer before you need with an OzMo sinffing around for another 620 LAMS.
Good reasoning and thought in your next purchase, noting wrong with the 800 but finding one with a dry clutch conversion would be more than rare. Equally spending money on doing it would be financially counter productive when you can buy the S2R 1000 which is a dry clutch as you know but also has better suspension (generally) for which you grow into over time.
Ask anyone with an 800 what they like to upgrade on it, Craigo and Betty (who's done it) and they'd say suspension before a dry clutch.
Remember you don't have to use all the power you have on hand and how many times do we really?
If you are looking for a well sorted well blinged S2R800 then who'd really go past Melvin's bike. It was one of the first bikes I ever saw on the (old) OzMo's site and it scared me and excited me at the same time.
Sell your's to bmroxm5
Buy Melvin's and make it your own.
That's what I'd be doing cause the bike is know.
But follow your heart and do as you wish that's just my 2c's

lol thanks for committing me to the bike in advance matty!
Rod made a good point about the pre-current monster being a better shape and the older style (aka 659) could possibly go out of fashion soon... I still want to check out a new 659, rod's bike and another forum members bike before making a decision on anything.
Oh yeh and L's test isn't till next month so I guess I should get my licence first as well

Re S2R mods....
Front forks first, anything is better than standard, I have a revlaved/sprung set from a S2R1000. Then pipes.

Melvins bike is a moving piece of art, photo's do not do this bike justice.
It looks horn it sounds horn and all the after market equipment is quality.
Whoever ends up owning this bike will not be disappointed, oh! and OH!-lins suspension front and rear
this bike has the potential to make an ordinary rider look really good.
I wish I owned this bike, do yourself a favour Rod go and have a look at this bike and tell me you hate it.
Mmick (sounding like part of the sales team)

Apparently..........if you buy it Rod,...Melvin will throw in two dogs for free i hear........but only on loan.......
Grab the bike mate........but toss that silly Sargent seat, its not your style and will give you numb bum syndrome.
Am more than happy to do you a clean swap there as i have a high pain threshold...
