I've got to get me one of these...  Wink Grin

From the Aerostich catalog: "Take your batteries and slavish dependence on other high-tech flummery and heave it overboard. With this device, you can pinpoint your location anywhere on earth and not be reliant on dodgy bits of information being projected through the ether by divers black arts. Precision constructed of brass and the finest optics available and featuring premium isinglass sun filters, it is compact and rugged enough for the adventurous motor-cyclist. Mounts for 7/8" and 1" bars are included, as is a fitted, velvet lined rosewood storage case. Not included are required declination charts (call for details) or the extremely accurate watch you are going to need to use this thing. Meets R.N. standard 3329-5 of 1787." http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Analog-GPS-p-17418.html

Gotta love the folks at 'stitch.  All sorta of goodies like that on their site.  I think my personal favorite is still the 'Just add water, powdered gasoline' for it simplicity.

It's called a sextant. The navy has used it for quite a long time for celestial navigation....

It amazing to me that man is capable of creating such a thing as a sextant. We can create a reference point for ourselves by using as perspective something many millions of miles away, all of it moving relative to each oether.  But we can't even come close to getting along.

Speaking of which - why the hell was the President of Iran on Larry King this week?Huh?  Why is he being given a podium?

I think Nate knew that - the point was to highlight the sense of humor over at Aerostitch.  They have a constant stream of gag items like this on their site and in their catalog.

I know, but some people won't understand why it's supposed to be funny unless they know what it is in the first place...
