It's OK.

I sorta like it, sorta growing on me.

Colours aren't bad.

Yeah, they had to update the Monster and it doesn't really look like a Japanese bike to me, still looks like a Duc.

Will have to ride one to have me convinced.  Wink

And I think it could do with some more neddies, ~100HP is'nt even close to recent S4R class Monsters. Hell the 696 boasts 80ish..

Yeah, except its an update for the 2 valve Monster range, not trying to compete with the S4Rs...

Like the 696, it's going to not appeal so much to all existing "old Monster" owners, but will probaby have significantly broader appeal to non-Monster-owners, which from a sales volume point of view is a smart move by Ducati...

I'd like one of those new ~100HP motors to go into my older frame  Evil

But do you really want the hassle of another 200,000 km to break it in  Grin ..... hmm, s'pose you do  [moto]

Agree with what you have said Big, and it is growing on me - but there are a few things begging to be modified.

Good point, I hadn't looked at it that way.

not a fan.
looks like it has no brakes with that squashed up headlight, and the pipes look like they came off that yamaha thing, the MT01.
100hp from a 2 valver would be a riot though.

I quite like it the 1100 sticker and ss swingarm seem to give it a better look. The fact that it could never replace the S4RS, the fact I have blown the toy budget for some time to came is probably the only reason i wouldn't  concider buyng one. waytogo

+1 with little work to the bike.

I looked at the 696 down at Frasers a couple of weeks ago and I didn't think much of it compared to the original.

I found everything was bare plastic.

I suppose it is a marketing thing with carbon fibre add ons.

As for size, well I feel big on S2R. The 696 is way too small.

Made for the Italians!

In my opinion I'm staying with my S2R.

Rob

As for power of the 1100 the horse power isn't the gain, it is the torque output where the gains are.

Anybody port & polished their air cooled heads???

hmm... I've also got mixed emotions.  Grin Roll Eyes Tongue Huh? Evil

Likes:
- SSS
- Ground clearance
- easy to use 2v engine and power
- the wheels
- the overall mechanical package

Dislikes:
- The back half of frame (like many)
- the headlight (coming from me its almost hipocritical)
- The tank
- The semi-motard like riding position (thinking that it will be similar to the 696 that I sat on) its not sporty enough for me, hence (clip-ons baby!)

- Chris

ps, colours, well... id always make a change. Can't keep anything stock, can I!??
