I have an 05 S2r dark and would like to know if it is possible to mount a damper on top, as I really dont care for the side mount option.   I have been lurking around for a while trying to figure this out but no luck.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are alot of companies that make the top mounted damper. Do a search on this board.

I was at Scott's a few days ago and asked about their Scott's (Ohlins) steering head mounted damper and was told they don't make it for the S2R 1K because on interference with the disabling system??  Anyhow, short story, they don't make it for that bike.  Check out their site for more info on yours.  Google Scott's performance

Ok, just to let everone know, I ordered the Arrows damper and the kit does not work on "Dark" models.  I think my only option is the side mount.

Why doesn't it work on the dark models? What the difference?

The reason it doesn't work is because the triple on Dark models is more like the 620 with the narrow bars and the height is different.  I took it back to the shop (Motovation USA) and they looked at it and called Arrows.  Arrows said that it has come up in the past, and they are aware that it does not fit dark models.  Refunded my money and I am starting over.  I do not know why it worked on your 06, maybe something different.  If anyone knows any other options let me know.  I need a damper, and I really don't care for the side mount but if that is my only option then so be it.

What are those bolts ?  Those are not part of the kit I had. The bolts I had bottomed out about half way.  So I decided to use the shorter stock bolts and they worked (although not sure how many threads they turned) Just to see if that was the only problem. mounted the damper and it was at least 2 inches taller than the bracket.  Did you use the supplied posts that attach to your ignition?  That is the only thing I could think that might lower it into the correct position.  Does the damper sit level?

Use a matris damper then. They make one for the 620, should fit your Dark.

I have emailed PJ's parts.  Is that the recommended Matris supplier?

yes the damper sits level  now just  had to flip it

i lost 2 of  the  bolts that came with the kit ( gravel driveway ) so just grabed  a couple of metriic bolts i had laying arround

stock clamps

in the kit there ar 2 spacers for inbetween the clamp and the mount

the only difference between a dark and reg s2r is the 7/8" bar  this does not efect the way it mounts
