Died yesterday at age 83.

We must have been typing at the same time. Newman was such an important figure in motorsports as well as acting. He will be sorely missed.

Lucky enough to have once played basketball with him many, many years ago.

Big, big bummer. Met him at Road Atlanta mid 80's - way cool guy and easy to talk to. Had he spent the years racing he spent acting he'd have been just as good a racer as he was an actor. And he did pretty damn well on the track as it was.

He'll be missed.

Great man... used his fame and fortune to live life like a regular person. Helped and started charities, and loved to go fast. History will remember him kindly as well it should. We lost a good one but he won't be forgotten. RIP
