99mod M600

« on: September 28, 2008, 03:04:16 PM »

On my 99mod monster 600 i have a Remus exhaust and recently added an open airbox with a DP air filter. I also opened the carburetors and adjusted the needle two steps up to give it more fuel. It now runs really badly.  Cry

However, when i replaced the open lid on the airbox  with the original lid with just the two small holes. Thus effectively reducing the airflow. This made it run great again (still using the DP filter).

I guess this means the bike gets to much air with an open airbox, even after having adjusted the carburetors for more fuel.

Does this mean I can not have an open airbox on my bike? Or would a DynoJet kit (stage 2 for example) fix this?
