I need a small safe to hold cash and other valuables in a two story house... question is, how do I bolt it to the floor on the second story.

Grampa

I may be able to get get you a small one for free.

use lag bolts to bolt a metal plate into the floor joists, then bolt the safe to the plate

Hey!

Personally I'd skip the safe and find a terribly obscure places to hide it, possibly in between floors. I know if I were a thief, and I came across a safe, I'd find a way to take it before looking much further.

So maybe keep a pretend safe with nothing in it but rocks  :P
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

That wouldn't be fireproof, which should be your first concern. :P

You can put something fireproof between the floors.

What would you be keeping in the safe?  Currency? Securities? Gardall makes a good safe in different levels of security.  Need ultimate fire protection?  I have a safe in my cellar embedded right into the cement slab.  As fire safe as you can get.  Has a water proof seal also.  Another safe in our bedroom closet is scumbag rated B with a fire rating of 2 hrs.  Bolted right to the floor and weighs about 150#.  It'll stop most attempts.

Check with a local lock/safe shop.... they usually will have better quality items than the chain stores.  Bolting the safe down is rather easy.

Mainly my credit cards (i dont keep em in my wallet) and enough reserve currency to last a month (about 2 grand)

and possibly a pistol or two.
