G'day All

I know they are made, but lately I just can't seem to find any online.

Now that we are coming into our Summer season here in Sunny Far Northern Australia, I want to try and push a bit more air towards the Vert Cylinder and with Average Summer Temps of 34 to 38 Degrees C and 95%+ Humidity for 3 months.

And while they may only offer a token amount of extra air to the rear cylinder, every little bit helps.
Plus I think they look just Tits as well  cheeky

Any suggestions as to where I can find any?
I remember somebody putting a link in another thread for a Japanese(?) company that made some nice gear (expensive) and I'm pretty sure they made them as well.

Thanks for any suggestions  waytogo

Hi
Do you mean these? http://cgi.ebay.de/Ducati-monster-carbon-luftcanale_W0QQitemZ280271159588QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280271159588&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Don't think they work ,in fact i think temp will go up with these things (frame less open)
If you want more cooling get some Podfilters en remove the airbox

I have kept searching in the mean time since I posted this topic, and I seem to have struck the same issue, most people have found the cooling effect is minimal to non existent.

Might give em a miss me thinks.

Thanks

 Not true.

I had them on my old M900Sie and there was a noticeable difference in engine temp (lower) after I installed them. They definately direct air over the vertical cylinder.

Interesting, Was it lower oil Temps?
I see the amount and size of the fins on the Vertical cylinder is much higher, And with the design of the bike I assume the airflow will be a bit limited.
But I wondered if the limited area these presented would really make that much of a difference.

I have a set on my 06 S2R 800.  They were advertised for a S2R800, but when I recieved them, they were to big and I had to do some serious cutting to make them fit.  I put them on the same time that I added the belly pan and it seemed to me that my bike was running a little cooler.  I couldn't tell you for sure though.  I mostly just liked the look.  If you want to see some pics on an 800, I will get a couple in the morning when I get home from work and post them.

Pics Please! I always though there were some smaller units on the market, I like the one's fitted to the BOMb.

I was thinking put them on for Summer and then take them off in Winter.

But if you could post some Pics that would be great! Thanks  waytogo

Here is a couple of quick pics I snapped.  Sorry for the lack of effort in presentation, but I have been at work for 14 hours.

I am still working on the fitment a little bit.  It is probably gonna take another hit or two with the dremel tool.  I am taking my time taking the carbon away because I haven't figured out how to add it back yet!

What exactly are you having to trim to get them to fit?

I had a look at the one's on MotoWheels site, but the Picture is a bit small to see any detail.

psycledelic,

The reason you had to cut the intakes is because you have the wrong ones for your bike. The newer style that fits your S2R are shorter. It looks as though you have the older style.

Yea, the guy I bought them from said he bought them for his 900, but that they were actually for an 800 and wouldn't fit his bike.  He even went to the Ducati website and pulled the part number for the 800's vents and posted it on the auction.  When I recieved them and questioned him on it, he told me that they were a direct replacement for the stock set.  Come to find out, he thought they were the side panels under the seat  Huh?.  Anyway, long story short, they were new DP vents and I got them for $136 so I figured screw it, I would make them fit.  The next free day I have, I am gonna take more off of the bottom and try to tuck them into the frame a little better.  Then, I can use the mounting straps that came with the vents.  I will probably end up making a mess of it, but hey, its fun trying.

Were they for an M800 or an S2R800? There is a difference.
