I have a 2006 with the exact setup described and it runs great as is with stock ECU. I, like you figured that I'd change ( though I would have gone DP ECU route ) if it didn't run well, but its does. So next comes suspension goodies.
Great feedback. I'll go stock for now and see how the bike feels. Can always add the RB3 or DP ECU down the road if deemed necessary.

It may seem to run well, but have you put it on a dyno?   My suggestion is to make the mods that you want, but always check the results on a dyno.  Once you start modding, be prepared to back-out the mods if the AFR is wrong, or spend more and upgrade the fueling with the unit of your choice (DP ECU, RB3, whatever applies).

I thought mine was running well when I had just an open udder.  When it was dyno'd, I learned that the AFR was off the chart lean.  Had no problems with stalling or overheating.  Now that its fixed, there is a huge improvement in how it runs, an improvement that I would not have thought possible.  These engines are all way different, so I would place zero faith on what other people with the same bike have experienced

Sold: 2007 S2R1000 for canyon carving and commuting - DP ECU, PCIII, BMC air filter with open box, Zard full exhaust, Race-tech fork internals, Ohlins steering damper, and a Penske 8987 triple clicker

2000 996XU (extra ugly) for track days - BST carbon wheels, Ohlins shock, reworked fork, FBF exhaust, and a bunch of megacycle rocker arms. The rest of it is junk - Hey, I'm just happy that it runs...

Sold: 2002 Aprilia RST1000 for touring - De-restricted airbox, Taylormade Racing exhaust

finally somebody with common sense...
who said: stock ecu + full exhaust no problems...not in my world

Now about w or w/o O2 sensor: with - on '07 up using the new RBO2, w/o - on '06 with older O2 simulator

for you guys that are describing performance with full arrow systems, are you talking baffles in or removed? iv'e currently got s2r1000 full arrow ti with baffles in, stock airbox and stock ecu. performance seems fine. not much different from stock.

Yeah, thats the thing, when people say they're bike is running fine with the stock ecu, they mean its not stuttering, stalling etc. That doesnt mean it has a good a/f ratio for the longevity of the motor or that it has the best performance, just that its not fuc*ed up.

check your plugs , if they're bone white, you're too lean. too lean means reduced engine life (possible overheating, valve damage, etc etc ) and less power.

We're on board with Rapid Bike now and are getting ready to start some extensive testing on our dyno. I've got a test kit on the way and a 749R that is running way too rich (strange problem to have huh!?)... I plan to test functionality, practicality, etc... and if all is well we will start offering them individually or at a reduced cost with an exhaust, air filter and air box lid for models that benefit from it. We'll be offering custom tunes as well as sharing all the maps.

I'm stoked to get going with them as we've needed a solution for a while and this seems to be it, but the support just hasn't been there. I believe this problem is cured now.

Installed the Arrow CF full system. Bike on Dyno with some minor tweaks, O2 sensor is in-place - getting 85.3 with stock airbox to the ground. Bike feels and sounds great thus far. Will revise after some riding time.

What is the A/F ratio throughout the rev range? Can you post the graph?

Thanks,

laughingdp I had that 749/999 problem 2 years ago, good luck...let us know if you can figure it out without calling somebody who knows about that problem from same person...
BTW how you cured the support problem?!
