I'm looking for feedback, preferably detailed information, regarding the use, configuration, pros and cons of this ECU by Rapid Bike. Their part number for the Sr@ 1000 is KRB3036. If you have used this or know someone that has and is willing to post up some details, please advise. Thanks!

Hate to refer anyone "there" but this had been discussed at length on the old board.  You can find it here http://www.ducatimonster.org/forums/showthread.php?t=163735.  Regardless of what we think of the place, there is a good amount of knowledge there.  Just a shame VS profits from it  :P

Edit: seems we have started a thread on the same here, in the Acc. and Mods. forum, its stickied at the top.  Hopefully that thread will grow with new developments...

Here it is and I am still maintaining it for updates.  The one at TOB is no longer maintained by me/anyone

legrena,
What type of bike and what exhaust/air box do you have?

I have a 2007 Monster S2R 1000. Presently the bike has the stock ecu and airbox, but I have a set of CF Arrow's (full system) ready to be installed and was looking to add the Rapid module in the event I disliked the performance using the stock ecu/airbox with the new Arrow.

Legera,

Just installed the Rapidbike last night and will be able to provide my results to the board as i get in some test rides/dyno. For me the main advantage was availability.  There is currently no PCIII for the 2006/7/8 S2R1000.  The other advantage is that it is
more tunable.  The PCIII simply adds or subtracts fuel at some RPM ranges, but due to the o2 sensor on many bikes these days, cannot add
fuel at all rpm ranges.  The RB3 unit can add/subtract fuel at all ranges, eliminate the O2 sensor and closed loop system, retard and
advance spark, raise RPM limiter, and can hold two maps that can be activated by a handlebar switch (sold separately).  You can also
install a quick shifter kit.    Hope this helps,

you'll probably dislike the performance with the stock ecu and arrows, i have an 06 s2r1k w/ ti arrows and went the rapidbike route

pros: -it works
-you can adjust your advance as well (w/ rb3)
         - you can use the rb on other bikes w/ the appropriate harness

cons: -install takes a little time
-it doesnt use the stepper motor, so you have to *help* it start w/ the throttle
-a bunch more wires, so its hard to keep an uncluttered look

* you may or may not need to do some additional tuning on your bike if the canned map doesnt work perfectly for you, in my case I have some *hiccups* around 5-6k I need to fix, thinking about getting wideband controller for this unless someone in L.A. has one and wants to do some tuning !!!

I'm very sure that Full Arrows and open airbox won't work on a stock ECU.  I don't know about Full Arrows and a closed airbox.  Keep us posted!

Inka,
I thought the RB3 units these days replaces the stock O2 with an RBO2 emulator and not eliminate it?

He Man

that is just the O2 emulator.

RB1 is the piggy back unit
RB2 is the piggy back unit + Limiter removal and Ignition management
RB3 is the piggy back unit + limiter removal and ignition management + Multi map feature

You need to purchase the O2 emulator separately

You are correct, I misspoke.  I put on both the RB3 and O2 emulator.  I have removed the O2 sensor from the exhaust and will see how that goes.  If no issues, then I'll remove it entirely from the bike at the harness.  I'm not entirely clear if the O2 emulator needs the O2 sensor to be in place to work.  I'll see what happens and let everyone know

I think you will need both the emulator and the RB3.  The emulator tricks the stock ECU into "open" mode then the RB3 can do its job. Good luck and keep us posted.

Technically, we are a dealer for the rapid bike, but I've been waiting to offer them until I got more feedback.

fwiw, full Arrows on an otherwise stock bike works fine. S2R800 or 1000.

Inka,
yeah from Al at Moto4us helping me with the install, you need the emulator, also you can plug the hole and take the o2 sensor out because its not connected to the ecu, its just extra weight at that point.

I dont know about other guys bikes, but my 06 S2R1k stock with full ti arrow system ran too lean, would die sometimes etc etc. runs fine now w/ the rb3

I have a 2006 with the exact setup described and it runs great as is with stock ECU. I, like you figured that I'd change ( though I would have gone DP ECU route ) if it didn't run well, but its does. So next comes suspension goodies.
