What does Ducati have planned for '09

Hello all, If anyone read the "I totaled my Triclore" thread I posted last week they will understand why I am so keen on what will be new for '09. BTW The grand total in parts were over 10,000 clams with the major units being the frame, gas tank, radiator and fans, and front fork assembly. There were also alot of other small parts. The sum of my personal damages were a sprained right thumb a sprained right knee bruised ribs and a scratched up Suomy Spec 1R extreme.I scuffed my boots and the armored knee of my riding pants. On to 2009.

Will there be a super bike powered monster for 09 with a frame that doesn't look like ass. I really am loath to get a Monster without the full trellis design and if all the 09 Monsters are without it I will look at other models. I like the Hypermotard S and with the racing exhaust and cams it might be the ticket. I'm not crazy about the seat and riding position but I'm keeping my Road King so it would really be a commuter and fun run bike.

I'm not "old enough" for a Multistrada and since I'm keeping the touring bike I don't need those kind's of legs anyway.

If I bought a 1098 (or 1198 if my other research is correct) my wife would have me on the couch for the rest of our days together.

What is it to be. What does 09' hold. I've already recieved authorization (the wife OK's for a new bike in the spring) and the months can't pass by quickly enough. I also will consider a used bike but really want a new one bad.

ETA I will e-mail those who have asked my insurance agents name and phone # if they are interested in buying the salvaged bike. I have had quite a few requests for this including guys at the shop. I will give everyone the info at the same time and then stand back !!!
I'm here to kick a*! and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

I'm 38 and I aint old enough for that either. Hell...thats what my Road King's for.

My Top pick's so far are 1. A 08 Tricolore holdover if I can find one.
                                    2. A 07 S4RS with some goodies if I can find one
                                    3. A Hypermotard s with full system and cams
                                     4. The new fighter if I like how it looks when it comes out
                                     5. A 1098 (distant choice that would make my wife shit bricks)

No particular order except I really want the S4RS back. Superbike power in the Monster chassis. I would even take another Tricolore if it wasn't cursed like my last one. I can give the whole story if anyone wants but many admit that it was either possessed or had a mean ass gremlin.

3. A Hypermotard s with full system and cams  hooligan fun
 4. The new fighter if I like how it looks when it comes out  best bet for stepping up with out getting kicked out
 5. A 1098 (distant choice that would make my wife shit bricks) this is the getting kicked out one

Unfortunately not a new ST4s with a 1098 motor, SSA, undertail exhaust, Ohlins forks and monoblock calipers.

15 years ago a great innovative designer took a sportsbike and stripped all the boy-toy plastic from it.
Then he mounted some friendly bars on the beast and but a soft saddle on.
Also he moved the foot pegs to a more relaxed position and called the thing MONSTER.
...
15 years later that line goat bloated and is circling around its own heritage based on the name.
...
Bologna...today...Borgo Paniale
Some driven Ducatisti getting back to that intriguing idea and create some poetry of style and speed and call it the Fighter.

I'm not sure on the details, etc... but I know Fay Myers in Colorado has a tricolore S4 monster that I am pretty sure is new.  $15k or something.

Skip the 1098 and go for the 848. I have ridden both. Trust me you will grin more than you expected.  [evil]

1 question to ask, how comfortable is the couch?
