hi guys,
i just suffered a low-side during a track session and busted open my S2R800 clutch cover and had several other parts bent and scraped on the right side. other than that, all is well. sent the bike in for several other checks (wheel/fork alignment, checks for leakage, and other mechanical stuff). i suffered no injuries at all, not even a scrape! the new leathers saved my skin!

anyway, the clutch cover was leaking (2 holes) until i went to a welder to have it fixed. it's now working but i can't stand the aesthetics now.
i am trawling the internet for a replacement part and came across a GT1000 clutch cover. i understand the GT1000 comes with a wet clutch (same as the S2R 800)

it looks exactly the same as the S2R800 clutch cover but the seller himself does not know if i can use the GT1000 cover for my bike. i have also checked the Ducati part number for the GT1000 cover is 243.2.028.5AC and 243.2.028.3AC for the S2R800.

anyone knows whether the GT1000 clutch cover works on the S2R800?

would appreciate any help on this.

thanks!

Sorry, no first hand experience, but I would be surprised if it is a match.

There is this guy here on the board who is going to make a side(-clutch)cover with a window. For the wet clutch to look more like a dry clutch.
Just maybe you should wait for that to happen?

I can't find the thread, but the company name is MotoCreations

no go.
s2r1000 is a dry clutch, and the cover is a separate piece from the rest of the engine case
the clutch cover on the s2r800 (wet clutch) is integrated with the engine case, which includes the oil site glass, oil fill, etc...

edit: stupid me for not reading your question carefully enough. still dont think the wet clutch cover for the 1000ds engine will fit your 800. of course, i am wrong plenty of the time, ...............so?

thanks for the input... i've passed on the GT1000 clutch cover. but do you think the M620, 750, 800SS wet clutch cover can fit? the S2R 800 has the APTC clutch, does the M620, 750, 800SS possess the same APTC clutch? if they do, then i suppose they should bolt right on?
any help is appreciated. thanks in advance!

As far as i know those bikes do not have the APTC wet clutch however the 695 does, that might be your best bet.

The 620's started using the APTC in '04 on the 6 speeds.  The cover is the same part number as the non APTC 800's though.  Not sure on the older models but any 620/800 cover should work, if your still looking.

thanks. still looking. these covers are few and far between...
fortunately there's an 800SS cover which is the same year as my S2R for sale. looks different, as in, it doesn't have the straight diagonal "tube" running from the sensor to the sump, just next to where the clutch basket is. i reckon that doesn't affect the running of the engine. any idea what that "tube" is for?

Missing a large quote on the end of your image link .... I managed to view with a cut & paste.

looks like your welder did a good job repairing the hole in the cover.  Just needs to be repainted!

My guess is the horizontal tube is for an oil pressure test; supposedly the covers are off the ducati race bike series (?) and has no mechanical function (?); also from what I've heard the smaller cc model bikes don't the  horizontal tube but the covers all fit from 620 to 800; 1K may be different ...

good luck post your findings; many would be intrested for future repairs ... PS don't forget to repair the break lever  [thumbsup]

i just can't seem to post pics right!!! haha...
yeah, it was a temporary job anyway just to get me home. (the track was pretty far away...)
i'm in two minds right now, whether to get a replacement or just get a paint job. actually a paint job might just cost more than a replacement where i live...

i have been checking out other 620s and 800s without the APTC clutch and the fitment seems right on. i'm just a little concerned about the temperature sensor going outta whack if that little tube isn't there.
will definitely post findings if i get the replacement.

btw, have fixed the rear brake lever...

I agree with DuciD that tube is prob. for fitting an oil pressure guage, my '04 620 does not have it.
