Wow.  Always a difficult decision to come to, even when it is for the best.  Sorry for your loss.

Thank you all for your condolences, I appreciate it.

Diesel's problem was recurring anemia. It started two years ago. She got a transfusion, and several months of medication. Last year, it recurred, she got another transfusion, and several months of medications. When it happened again this year, I just couldn't justify the cost($8-1200/time), and it was worse than ever before, so I had her put down.

She was 12 years old, and we'd had her since before birth. Her mother, Precious, is still alive, though at 17, probably not for too much longer. Precious is having seizures (about one a month), and is on phenobarbitol. Diesels grandmother, Grand champion Lady Shadow of Silverwood (also known as Puppy) died three years ago, at the age of 18.

I'm starting to look for a kitten to liven the place up again, but it'll probably be a while. I'm thinking shorthair this time, maybe a Siamese, or an Ocicat.

Office manager at a place I worked at bought a house.  The previous owners had been feeding a feral cat and wrote it into the sales agreement that the new owners would continue feeding the cat.   I don't know if the new owners were already catpeople, but they took the agreement very seriously and eventually convinced the cat to move inside the house.   He turned out to be a great pet (named him Chuck) and they lived happily ever after for many years.

Awesome.  waytogo  She won't come inside no matter what. Rain, tornado sirens, freezing cold. She knows the sound of my old Toyota truck and meets me at the curb when I pull up.  Grin

Wish I had her here. She could get the bunneh and rodent populations back in check.

Frank looks much less inclined to get his ass handed to him these days.

Of course, good camera work can do wonders for appearances.
