Pssst-his name is Joel  ;) Bob is his cat.

Joel, I'd like to second buying the business, if you can. Or better yet, just opening a second one, and taking the customers with you. You're not as hard up as your idiot boss-you can probably undersell him.

I need to get lms dad to retire, sell his business and it's property, buy the shop here, I'll run it, and he can live off the profits.   [cheeky]
Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

Start your own. No reason to go work for the other guy you know. You have the vendors, the know how, and the reputation. It's a slow market these days but if you cut your expenses to nearly nada you wouldn't have to sell many jobs to cover your old paycheck.

If you need a little bit of capital sell some shares here. I'm in for 1K.

I vowed to never make business loans to friends after the last one.

But for you, I could scare up a grand or so.

My advice to Bob would be to show your dissatisfaction by indiscriminately pissing all over the place.

Not sure if that would work for Joel though? I guess you could try it, but it may be dangerous with the untrained helper monkeys.

I read what he wrote.

I expressed my willingness to loan him some business capital.

I think Joel would be better served by not having to report to shareholders / a board.

Yeah, I expected Joel to have a board and shareholders.  [laugh]

I kinda see it as more of a if he ever sold the biz the people that kicked in own a share and get their money and hopefully a bit more back. I would expect it to go the route of Joel starts biz, biz does well, Joel buys back shares as he is able, Joel owns biz free and clear. You can call it a loan if you want.
