For anyone who's a fan of the Star Trek universe here are some new pics that were recently released from the new movie:

IGN confirmed in an interview that this is the bridge of the USS Enterprise:
.

Spock practicing the Vulcan death pinch:

Most of the crew:

Kirk, escaping what appears to be an emergency escape pod from the Enterprise (note the NCC-1701 on the capsule):

A starship being whomped on - you can make out the KEVLIN name on the saucer:

This looks.... to be..... a total... failure.....

As a Star Trek fan, I have no interest in seeing this movie what so ever, I'm not one of these hard core fans who dress up or go to the Shows and conventions, but I do own the box set's of DS9, Voyager and Next Gen, but the original series I thought was just lame. (Flame suit on)

But I have tried to get interested in this new movie, but it's doing nothing for me.

Visually, it looks nice. I love the 70's future!

I have always been a Next Gen fan, but the flop that the last few movies turned out to be leaves me leary about this new prequal. I think that I'll see it in the theater, but probably end up wishing that I had left it for DVD. I could be wrong though. It would be nice to see the franchise renewed and successful again.

The problem I see initially is the bridge of the Enterprise....it looks far more futuristic than even in the earliest movie.

They kicked the crew responsible for those last insipid movies to the curb and got J.J. Abrams on this one. I think if I'm going to like it, I'm going to have to refrain from any reference to the previous series, sort of like when a comic book is relaunched or something.

My only fear is it tries to be too hip and ultimately fails like the Star Wars prequels.

Jobu

I'm liking the new chick uniforms with those short skirts and tall boots.  [thumbsup]

If I recall, the producer of Nemesis had never even seen a single episode of Star Trek before he got involved with the movie...that was a clue that someone should have picked up on immediatly and taken very seriously!!!

erkishhorde

Kirk looks like too much of a kid to be the captain of a chip.
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

I had to go look it up. Rick Berman of course was listed, but I didn't realize Brent Spiner helped write the story. They used to be good and went to complete crap...

teddy037.2

hmmmm... not too sure on this one.

it'll be a 'maybe' flick for me. I hope it doesn't suck.

I totally agree...although I don't mind watching them just for what they are. They should just bring back Kahn from the dead and duke it out! LOL - now that would be entertaining!  [laugh]

Don't give them any ideas. I can totally see them casting the foreign kid from "That '70's Show" as Khan in the sequel to this new movie  [roll]
