You haven't met Hamza yet.  The blizzard that stopped mass transit was the only weather that kept him off his bike.

i have a bmw boxer cup sport bike here in NY which is fun (totally different beast) so i'm still riding but you can get spoiled out in CA being able to ride all year long, the crest, ojai, frazier park, etc.

looks like a nice day today actually, might go out for a quick fix  [moto]

Fogger 23

Hi everybody, I live in Dallas and am new to this forum.  I'm looking to buy my first Foggy next week from Atlanta.  If anybody can share their expertise, I sure would appreciate it.  This is my first monster. prior bikes are ducati 916 (classic), ZX11, and GSXR 750.  'bout time I got a Monster!

So the bike is an '02 with 7700 miles on it.  My questions follow:

1. It is the stock 916 engine but has 996 cams.  the mechanic told me no issues with flaking / pitting.  The dealer said the 996 cams are a better match for the 4 valve motor, and provide better torque.  Thoughts here? Is this a normal mod?

2. the tachometer has a crack in the glass (bezel).  Did some research to find I would have to replace the entire instrument cluster--which is 800 cost, plus labor.  I'm inclined to leave the crack as is.   Any guidance here sure is appreciated.  Wish I could just swap out that glass piece.

I'll check back later, but hope to be a frequent visitor as I get the bike up to speed and get my "legs" under me again!

Best,

Z

Hi and welcome to the club!

I can't say much about the 996 cams, but it's always an area of concern on foggy's...   mine has an indeterminate amount of miles on it, but so far no flaking issues.

I also have a cracked bezel on the speedo...   never bothered replacing it due to the cost, and it leaks in heavy rain.

So, basically i'm absolutely no help to you so far.  ;-)

Post up some pics once you get it.

apologies, I am having trouble posting photos here..it just says when I try to add in a photo. Have some good photos--you'll see a largely stock bike.  I'll log back in when my brain is working....

It's a pity that you foggy owners and fans couldn't make it over the pond to our fun day at DucatiManchester this sunday the 5th june as we have Carl as the special guest, he recently took delivery of a new Diavel from the store which I'm informed he is very impressed with... [thumbsup]

The time has come my Foggy is going to be up for sale!

I've been focusing my time on the track and other super bikes. It kills me to see it not being ridden so, time for someone else to enjoy it.

I'll be getting a list of everything together (parts on bike, spares, whatever else) and current pictures. I should have it listed in the classifieds by the end of the week or beginning of next week.

You can sen me an offer via PM in the mean time if you would like. Acceptable forms of payment would be cash; don't laugh 1ct plus GIA certified diamonds, precious metals, or a combination of any (it's the biz I'm in so, I'll take it).

Hi Everybody--I'm back--here are a couple photos.  This is #109 and pretty much stock.  Rizoma mirrors, rear blinkers, clutch cover, and resevoirs.  Termi pipes sound great.  The bike is incredible--great handling-- clean torque, and sounds as mean as they come!  I'll be looking forward to upgrading / improving over time, but just enjoying the ride for now.  It has 996 cams.

Happy Riding!  --Zip
