Seems that dogs have strong jaws/gums.
My vet told me they have dogs with no teeth left that are still able to eat hard food

Alex Update:
Our Vet had to send out the tests to Ohio State Vet School.
Lung fluid biopsy for cancer came out negative, which is quite a relief.
They believe the 90 degree angle in his esophagus was due to Alex about to sneeze before the x-ray; apparently it is quite common.
so the breathing issue?
The little guy has severe asthma.
So he is going on medication for that and if it clears up, he will move to some OTC medication to help control symptoms when they worsen.
the little bastard will live another day to bite me and be a general prick.....
(just kidding)

Let's get one thing straight:
Alex is Tiffany's dog. She had him prior to us meeting; that was a package deal.
but yes.........
He is more than a prick. He is a make the beast with two backsing prick.
but I still love him. He has some oddities to him that are great, not to mention, for being so small, he has quite a big personality.

Terrible news from the Buelton Household:
Our beloved little guy Alex passed away last night.
It doesn't even seem real.
We are/were on vacation, cruising back from Cozumel when my mobile rang yesterday evening and it was the kennel we always board our dogs at; it was the owner.
I mentioned earlier about Alex's breathing problem, they knew about it, had all his medications, etc.
Owner noticed he was having trouble breathing so she called us and said she was rushing him to the Emergency Vet.
He collapsed on the way there and the doctors were unable to revive him to a steady rate, so I had to make the ultimate call and send our little buddy up to Doggy Heaven.
The hardest thing is we weren't there for him. He slipped through the skies to heaven without us, but he was not alone.
The owner of the kennel was about as broken as we were when I spoke to her after.
We fly back tonight and it is going to be weird picking up one dog tomorrow instead of two. But we are taking the whole family to the emergency vet to pick up the Urn containing our beloved little friend.
God Speed Alex. You were a little asshole of a dog a lot of the time, but there was just something so loveable about you. He had the biggest personality in that little 8lbs body. Life for us will never be the same.
Next order of business is a nice sit down with the Vet on his bullshit make the beast with two backsing diagnosis.
The Vet I spoke to last night thought it was due to a heart issue; I talked to my Uncle right after and he concluded it was most likely heart disease of some sort, but no way to know unless an autopsy was performed, but not going through that.
God Speed Alex.
You will never be forgotten. The way you clawed at our arms when you wanted to be pet. The little running sound you made when you tried to jump on the bed, but wouldn't quite make it and fall back to the ground. You'd keep trying and then whine for us to pick you up.
Rest in Peace buddy.
