Our as well. He went from cancer of the blood vessels of the spleen that ruptured. It was all over very quick.

2 of our male GSDs and our female all went to cancer...all stomach/abdominal... all at around 6 years old

never went off their feed until the very end so we had little advance warning...couple of days maybe a week

heartbreaking, heart-rending...

I still do miss their strength of character, intelligence and personalities

truly a breed apart

I wish you good resolve and ease in the time ahead...

And indeed it is the terrible price we pay the piper........ for the wonderful dance we get to have with them   :-/

That's what my Aussie went from as well.   :'(
Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing; however, they can still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

A day or so after bringing "Michelle" home, Lily had to check her out and give her the seal of approval. [laugh]

As long as the seal of approval doesn't involve peeing. Or much peeing.

Our dear, departed Shar-Pei Ruffles used to pee on my tires (not like my moto was all that special - he peed on anything that wasn't moving, and lots of things that were) and it was a major PITA to get clean. I really miss that smelly old dog.

Nope, she hasn't had an accident in the house since she was a puppy. [thumbsup]

I finally broke down and adopted a dog.  She's an aussie cattle dog mix and was named Dulce by the shelter and it seems to fit her sweet disposition.

Thanks.  She was at the local shelter since March of this year and was picked up as a stray.  Either she was someone's pet or it is just the cattle dog intelligence, but she seems to "get" the house routine.  She wasn't spayed and that is scheduled for Friday, but is going to the vet today for an initial check-up.  I'm a bit concerned over her boughts of diarrhea that she's had since I picked her up on Saturday.

Our local shelters will not send out a dog or cat until they are fixed. It is a good thing, but makes it hard to tell what a dog is like if they had surgery the day prior. Lucy was fixed 3 days before we saw her. Those extra days helped. The drugs have time to wear off!

Good luck with your new pup. 4 months as of yesterday for Lucy. I think she likes it here.

Our rescue took a few days to take a solid shit too.. I think it's jut stress.

Congrats on the new dog Drjones! Rescues are the best.  [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

Good luck with the diarrhea problem...hopefully it's just stress. If not, my lab/pit rescue has a sensitive stomach and I've had good luck with Nutro Ultra food. Most of the other high end foods cause her problems.

probably nerves, could be worms or just change in diet w/you or different water supply

but I would hold off on the spaying until she is stable and grounded if you can

rice and cooked chicken might help bind her up some

+1. I would hold off until the watery stool issue is resolved. Change of food will do that.
