Very cool on the MWD front. A neighbor's son is a trainer @ Lackland, and she has one of their Dutch Shepards. One thing to consider though, bring a Malinois in your home and be prepared for said home to be destroyed.

Current residence is already destroyed from previous canine residents.

Good news about Ollie Bacon!
On another front...
Found this as a possibility for a dog for me...

There is more to adopting those dogs to think about. My buddy is a former K9 officer and now flys a police helo. He adopted a former bite trained dog. They pretty much will only give them to former handlers. He can't take the dog to any of the fun public places like dog parks or beaches unless they are empty. If that dog bites someone or something and they find out its a trained bite dog you can imagine the money that's gonna cost you. So...awesome dogs but think that one through long and hard. Plus working dogs need work or they find their own. Be it your back yard fence, couch, etc.
Related tangent: Was driving one day on patrol and saw a Shepard running full sprint on the sidewalk. Looked back and saw the vet techs chasing it. Lol. I guess he was sick of being boarded. I pulled ahead, stopped, and opened my back door. He saw the patrol car and jumped right in.

Thanks!
Are you still going to have long weekends away? What's your long-term schedule?
Have you thought about fostering? Our local Dumb Friends League is such a great organization and incredibly accommodating to foster parents....
Another option to consider.

I'll be catching up on housework tonight so will squeeze in a few minutes to post some pathetic pics of the pup. (Definitely not pathetic a week later!)

^ Great story. Lucky dog!
Some pics for Baron von Leaf Peeper of Oliver (turkey) Bacon's big adventure (and for anyone else who's bored) as the events unfolded:
Waiting for bloodwork and x-ray results:
About 18 hours after surgery before they decided he should go home (huumpfff wonder why. bastages.). He was doing not so well:
The most pathetic picture you'll ever see:
A kinder, gentler cone (was actually worthless since he's a contortionish and began using his back legs to scratch his incision):
The external damages (looks great today though):
After "ruff"housing tonight. Definitely feeling great! Staples out on Friday.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Congrats Stella, awesome news.
Our little PIA, got another trainer, this one seems to have what it takes. It's amazing how fast dogs can learn and be corrected.

Oliver [turkey] Baconator is doing
WONDERFULLY
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just this morning on our short walk, he was bouncing off of brother Brian to get him to wrestle while we were crossing the street.
Staples/zipper comes out tomorrow afternoon and at that point, I hope to get the million questions answered that I have written up ready to send to the doc in advance of our appt. (I have an over-analytical side to me.)
Such as: can we go paddleboarding this weekend? How much longer on the antibiotics? How low and high of fat content can he have w/o a recurrence? What the hell was the allergic reaction to that caused his intestines to darken?! (Not expecting an answer to that last one.)
So yes. He's doing marvelously. Thank you for asking!
What are you trying to teach/unteach that's causing you to go through trainers?
