So sorry, FP. The years you had with him were a blessing though.
A long ride sounds like a great idea.

You know, friends can be an awesome thing sometime. As you guys can tell i've been restless and agonizing over this from even before it was time. Luckily I talked with a very wise and profound friend of mine who helped me come to grips with all of this.
When I was at my lowest Cliff comforted me the only way he could, by being a dog and doing what dogs do. There was a time when I thought he was the only thing I had going for me. When he was at his lowest I comforted him the only way I could - by freeing him from the body that failed him.
I had damn near 14 years with the best dog I've ever known. What's to be sad about? We feel sad when we don't understand or can't accept it. The challenge is to be happy about it - even the ending.
I'm still pretty far from being happy about it but the veil of despair has lifted.
Thanks again for everyone's comments. Run free and breathe deep buddy.

Well, I misread the time for the Boxer meetup today, so we showed up late.
We did, however, spend some time in Golden, CO hanging out by Clear Creek.
Brian picked up a new hobby:
And almost got eaten by a massive trout:

So sorry about your dog. I can't imagine how I will be when that day comes with mine and she is only 5. Nothing I can say will make that hurt go away but hopefully you consider another dog when it works for you. Dogs need good homes like the one you obviously provided for your boy.

Shibas are cool dogs. There are a couple that Brian (my Boxer just above) gets to play with every now and again at the dog park.

Brian picked up a new hobby:
This little pistol picked a fight last night after another dog told him loud and clear that he didn't want to play. Brian didn't like that answer. Lots of fur flew, got knocked down in the process, traffic and peds stopped (couldn't do anything because we were in an enclosed park). Good times good times! Apparently this little bookworm has failed to read "How to Win Friends..."

Just went trough entire topic for the first time... Some very, very cute dogs you people have.
Here is my lab:
They are all such great dogs! But something about yellow labs really gets me!

he's been a great dog so far.
house broke in about a week, has a little accident once in a while, but its usually right by the door or when some one makes him too excited (hot girls often do this, he then pee's on their shoes, defeting the purpose, or possibly claming them as his
).
Really quiet, I think I've heard him bark two or three times while yotes' are crying out side.
He just ignores dogs his size and only wants to play with big dogs. he thinks he's their size. his best friend is a blue tick coon hound

Here is Lily, she's a pitbull/boxer mix I rescued in SC when I lived down there, she was 3 months old when I got her. The crackheads that had them were going to train them to fight, the dad had to be put down because he was too aggressive.
Here she is the day I got her:
Shortly after, SURPRISE!!!
Guarding my bike parts at the old apt. It was funny watching her climb out there so she could people watch.
Helping me paint
Playing on the tennis courts
Partying down on New Years
Dancing with me after I got home from the bar one night
Supporting gun rights
Sending out the message to fight being squids
She's my pride and joy!!!
