Most show whippets have their dewclaws removed by the breeder.  Watson & Grover (both rescues) still have theirs.  No issues after all these years, even after some serious running events through rough terrain.  I just have to trim them once in a while.

Cool dog you got coming. Huge paws...don't you live in a condo or something? How does that work out?

But that is not what this thread is about.

Please no more debating this. Go back several pages when we got Greta and the topic was addressed then.

You may not like other's opinions but this is a dog thread and things about dogs are going to be discussed. As far as cropping goes, You crop your dogs ears for looks. Period. There is no benefit to a non-working dog to have cropped ears or docked tails. I'm fairly certain your dogs don't care if they are "breed standard". I do agree with the dewclaw being removed as my JRT has ripped her's at least three times and it's painful for her.

Yes, I live in a condo.

My dogs get walked 3 times a day and frequent trips to the dog park. Exercise is not an issue.

I keep my dog the way it is supposed to look.

How do you know I am not going to show this one?

Also forgot to add.........Doberman's aren't the most active dog out there.

Overall, they are pretty make the beast with two backsing lazy.

When I take Greta to the dog park, she is ready to go home in 20 minutes.

She just enjoys laying on the couch, looking out the windows, or laying her head on your lap.

They are a true companion.

We are excited about Tag's arrival but also dreading the puppy days.........

I think since he is coming in on an airplane, first stop before home will be at the Vet just to make sure he is doing alright after the flight. I guess they probably sedate the animal with some Ketamine or xanax.

Are you?

God no would I ever get stuck in the politics of the dog showing world. From personal experience, never seen so many stuck up people.

It was just a point that he has/had no intentions of what I am going to do with my puppy.

Doberman's have tails docked and ears cropped. Therefore, that is how I will keep the bread standard alive.

Really?  I would never have guessed that.  In fact, you are the only person I have ever heard that from.  Darmah is FAR from lazy, and everyone I know from the Dobermann club down here would attest that Greta (from your statement) is much more the exception than the rule.

B-dog is going back to dog parks now to play.  He loves it there.  [thumbsup]

Actually going to meet up with a bunch of other Boxers in a couple weeks.

Will take and post pics from that.

Your dog came out of the womb the way it is supposed to look. You modified it to look like other dogs that were modified for specific purposes. Not a huge deal. I like how dobies look with cropped ears and docked tails (my JRT has a docked tail). My point was twofold. One, don't tell us to quit discussing stuff. Two, just admit you do it for looks and own it. Toss the rationalizations. No big deal. Nothing to be ashamed of. You found a gorgeous pup and will give it a good home. That's what counts.

This is the dog thread.

But I prefer whole wheat or multi-grain, thank you.
