Our first ear taping of Tag went down tonight. I will say it was an overall success. It surely isn't as pretty as the Vet who previously did it, but the style is the same, just not as precise on perfect lines, etc.

Here are some pictures after we cleaned out his ears and let him have full use of his ears so he can learn to control them. They are standing VERY well at such a young age. He also has excellent ear control already.

He needs to grow into these suckers, but at 10wks weighing 21lbs, I doubt it will be an issue........

btw, on the right of the second picture is our seldom talked about third animal.

It is a red eared slider turtle. Female.

Wife rescued him from a moron at work who was going to flush him when her shell was about an inch wide.

Now it is 6in and we need yet another bigger tank. He is in a 30g now.

Ok, you caught me.

We originally thought he was a male, so we named him Timmy.

After finally meeting someone that owned a few, he introduced us to a website about red eared sliders.

Timmy is indeed a female.

So pretty much I call him either or in typical conversation.

It sucks Timmy is a female because she is about at the age to lay eggs and you have to take them outside and let them cruise around for as long as it takes to lay. It's my wife's rescue, so it is her duty

Honestly.......I have no idea. You need to find an area that is grassy with some soft dirt and apparently just watch the turtle until she lays. Then you are done. She covers the eggs and goes back to life. It is odd.

We are just learning about it. I am thinking it involves a lawn chair, cooler of beer, and a pack of smokes. Maybe even a bong, not sure yet.

You could actually legitimately say that and ZERO ZERO ZERO argument from me would occur. This turtle has not been a cheap pet as pitched to me by the wife. But, she is a full animal lover and will take in about anything to help. Hell, she used to have a 8ft Burmese Python. And she let the damn thing sleep on the bed 

We picked up a stray kitten, couldn't find a no kill shelter with space, so no way were we taking to the DeathSociety where they euthanize after 3 days of non-adoption or something like that. We found her a great home via craigslist.

If kitty wouldnt have gotten a home, we'd of kept it. I make the beast with two backsing hate cats. Sorry cat owners, I just dont like them. Cant really tell you why, just dont like em'.

hey, I get dogs on my front steps from and have to find them homes since people where I live don't give a poop about animals, so, I feed them for no more than 5 days... And off they go...

That's a great question and I haven't gotten to enough reading about that.

Maybe protocol is the male finds the eggs, digs em up and fertilize?

But then a guy I know who has two claim they "mate" and the eggs come out fertilized.

I have no clue dude.

I thought this was going to be a low maintenance interesting creature to look at.

Boy, I was wrong. But I do help my wife when she needs it with him even though I claimed I'd never touch him or the enclosure.
