In case anyone buys one..a gentle leader is worthless on an English Mastiff.

I imagine any setup on a dog that weighed more than me would be useless.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

We have three dogs at 80, 100 and 130lbs. Gentle leaders allow my 5'2" wife to walk them all safely by herself. Regardless of the collar, if those three dogs wanted to drag her (or me) down the street they could. So Gentle Leaders, choke chains, pinch collars, etc. should never be used as a replacement for training. We prefer the gentle leader because if our large dogs do start pulling a bit it is easy to give the leash a little tug and get the dog's focus off of whatever is causing the excitement. Dogs are sort of like us on our bikes. We will ride where we are looking. Dogs will direct there focus in which direction their snout is pointed. Gentle Leaders allow us to direct our dogs toward us so they are less distracted and more focused on the command we are giving them.

Gentle leaders don't magically stop working when your dog reaches a certain weight. You just need to keep up with training your dog to walk at your side. Again, no collar/harness should be a replacement for training. Gentle leaders just give us a little extra control with the multiple dogs.

Pinch collars work the same, dude  ;)

Your wife would have the same result with one of those, but the popular opinion is they are "harmful" to the animal which is not true at all.

Not to mention, they are half the cost of the gentle leader collars.

Typical Doberman sleeping............

His paws are huge (for a baseline comparison, my hands are somewhat tight in size Large Alpinestars gloves).

His ears lasted about 2wks before he had to tape again. Every morning his ear would be flopped, but he would have it standing again in an hour or two. Therefore, we decided to tape again and see how it goes.

My dog, my Cocker Spaniel, has been diagnosed with Lymphoma and is in a very advanced stage.
At least I got to keep one of his only mating, here they are in the kitchen begging me for bread

Terribly sorry to hear that.

As my advice is shitty and not exactly the best.........but do the right thing for your animal.

I know it is very hard to even think about, but I had to do it March 21st around 730p EST when I was on a cruise boat coming back from vacation.

God damn......I am tearing up thinking about it.

I wish you and yours the best with the situation. I hope it is treatable
