Oh GL, I am so so so sorry that you have to go through this.  Just know that he is now not in pain and sometime you'll see him again.  I'm not so sure what happens after this life but I do know that our dogs/cats will be the first to greet us when we get there.

Take some time off and then refill your life with a brand new puppy.

GL,

Get that new puppy to keep your GF's dog in the right mindset.

If they lived together, then the other dog is definitely in a depression mode of lack of understanding.

We replaced (awful word to use) our little Alex with another doberman (we've PMed a lot about this) about a month later.

Now this little bastard will take your spot in bed if you don't beat him there first.........

Hey GL so sorry about your animal companion.  That is tough.  My boy went last year and though I felt pretty rough over it I can't complain he was 13 and had a good run.  been over a year and still haven't gotten another.  It takes time.

Thanks Player and Cyrus we didn't live together but spent enough time together with the two that the pup is really depressed. I'm going to see how thing go in the next month or two and make my decision then on another pup or not.

Great pic MrI  [thumbsup]

Due to our Dobermans being about the same size and looking pretty much identical, we were forced in to getting them full time collars and of course matching tags to go with them with their name and our phone number.

They typically do not wear collars around the house as we use pinch collars (best ever training tool....sure I will get flamed for this) for walks. However, choker chains are a joke and those "gentle leaders" are expensive and non-responsive to my animals.

Here are their matching collars and medallions. Of course the black one belongs to Taggart and the pink one belongs to Greta

Front and back of Greta's. It is hard to read, but her name on it is "Princess Greta" as she likes to be called.

by the way, I know some in the dog communities (Especially around here) think it is a bad idea to have a dog with your dogs name and phone number on it.

However, both dogs have the implant micro identifier chip and unlike most per law.......we actually pay an annual fee to Franklin County to have our dogs registered.
