Very sorry to hear about your dog.

My only advice would be is to do what is best for the animal.

We had to make that choice back in March and it wasn't easy, but the right thing to do.

Prayers to you and yours, as well as your gentle giant.

Thanks Cyrus we are doing everything we can right now he is only a baby still, 3 years old, i'm waiting for the vet to get back to me about surgery options.

That looks like a cool place. If I was in PDX I'd send my mutts there for sure!  [thumbsup]

My St Bernard was rushed to the ER yesterday morning his larynx is paralyzed  :'(  He is still there right now and the surgeon is coming in to discuss options this has been the hardest 24 hours ever.  Does anyone have any advice with this condition?  I'm devastated right now his trip to the ER was so scary by the time we got there his tongue was grey, they have had him on oxygen all day and night.

A good source for information is vetinfo.com.  Here's a link specifically about your situation (if you haven't already researched it):

We'll have him and you in our thoughts over here and hope for nothing but the best possible outcome!
Keep us posted!  Big hug to you and your pooch too!

I hope there are plenty of options in your situation and your family member will recover.

Prayers again.

Stella, I spoke to my brother that lives in the area about taking at least one of them, but he just moved into a small appartment, so he won't be able to help. I'll send an email to 2 people I know in the area, one used to own a groomer. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Latern,  good luck to you and your pooch.  I really hope everything works out okay.

Remember- its worth the money.  My baby turned her stomach over at age 4 and while it cost us a lot, having her greet me everyday is 1,000,000 times worth it.

I'll be sending my thoughts and prayers for him.

Here are some photos I just took of Greta and Taggart.

Tag just got neutered on Wednesday and by the pictures below, he appears to be doing just fine. His little 1in incision looks very good and we only had to have his Elizabethan headgear on one day. Also, his ears have been untapped for about 10 days and are looking good. His left one still flops at times, but he can get it back up, therefore, we are going to tape him again tomorrow evening in hope this will be the last time. Thank god he is a great patient and doesn't mind it at all.

Typical evening of play time between them. We have a hard time telling them apart as Tag (he is almost 6mons and is weighing in at 53lbs as of wednesday; Greta turns 3 in early November and weighs 65lbs. Needless to say, Tag will soon surpass her in height, weight, and overall size, however, not surprising as male dobermans tend to be a lot larger than the females)

I hate to post this but my Saint Bernard, Bartholomew, was getting better then on saturday night took a big turn for the worst.  He had some pneumonia and combined with the paralysis he couldn't live without a breathing machine.  The only way to save him would have been surgery but because of his condition the chance of surviving the surgery was almost zero, the surgeon wouldn't even do it she said.  The anesthesia would have killed him.  He passed away this morning i miss the big guy  :'( Thank you everyone for all the kind words this sucks so bad it was so fast.  Friday he was looking better than he just went way downhill.
