I bet he is i have a basset hound, Winston, up there too who i'm sure he is terrorizing.  The way those two drooled i'm sure the other side is flooded right now  :)

We lost this little guy when we were on vacation in March. Very unexpected. He was 4.5 and he should have lived at least 15yrs.

Your boy Bart and Winston can cause havoc in that big puppy palace in the sky with my wife's beloved Alejandro Pedro Mendez (aka Alex aka Sir)

In true form to your picture of your big boy in the snow, our little guy had to be dressed for walks in the winter:

PM me if you'd like to chat about it. I am all ears. I know how hard it is to lose a good friend.

Alejandro was my wife's little puppy when we first started talking, during the courtship process.

We got together, dated, I couldn't find a job in FL, and she decided the move was to Ohio.

She came up 2008 and left him with me for a month before she made the final move and that was my first experience with a chihuahua; they are interesting dogs to say the least.

But through all his biting of me and being a general asshole, he was a very good companion.

We were on vacation when the kennel we always board our dogs at called me (the owner called) and said his breathing was very odd (he was recently diagnosed with asthma but I honestly question the validity of the vet's diagnosis, but that is neither her nor there......it didn't bring him back). They did all they could and I had to make the decision.

Hardest thing I have ever done in my life.

We had him cremated and he now resides in his oak box with his favorite toys and his collars (all three of them throughout his life) on our dresser. All his other toys, blankets, and clothes are in a special box by our bed.

That has really helped us a lot. Just knowing he is with us in our room makes it a bit easier on us.

I know it is very new to you and my post is about how we have coped with the loss of him, but maybe some of our dealings will help you with the loss of Bart

or

My wife and I are complete whackjobs and can't get over the loss of him.

If you look above, we had two dogs at the time and our female Doberman (2.5yrs old) was very lonely, so we were forced into getting another dog for greta, so we got another doberman, but this time a male (yeah, we are whacked).

I just know how you feel right now and it breaks my heart; it really does. Almost brings tears to my eyes as your situation with your pooch was similiar to mine, so I feel a bit of a connection of your ordeal.

Probably the most I have opened up about the loss of Alejandro Pedro Menedez outside of daily discussions with my wife.

I hope that any of this helps you cope, but it probably doesn't as everyone reacts differently to their animals.

My wife and I aren't having kids, therefore, our dogs are our children.

I hate to post this but my Saint Bernard, Bartholomew, was getting better then on saturday night took a big turn for the worst.  He had some pneumonia and combined with the paralysis he couldn't live without a breathing machine.  The only way to save him would have been surgery but because of his condition the chance of surviving the surgery was almost zero, the surgeon wouldn't even do it she said.  The anesthesia would have killed him.  He passed away this morning i miss the big guy  :'( Thank you everyone for all the kind words this sucks so bad it was so fast.  Friday he was looking better than he just went way downhill.

RIP Bart

Your not whackjobs at all my guy is being cremated too and will be in my room as well.  And my girlfriends little yorkie is just as heartbroken i have never seen the little guy act so docile. I almost lost it again this morning just coming upstairs after getting ready for work. Sharing your experience does help me cope and i thank you for that it means a lot.

GL - My heart goes out to you. I loved the photo of Bart in the snow -- he looks like a beautiful big galoot with at fantastic heart.
