The city here pays for everthing by charging people either an excessive amount to park at the beach or a $45 pass for parking the whole year.

The annual pass here is $150. Consider yourself lucky.

The diagnosis today:  osteoarthritis.

Will use prescrip. pain meds only as needed but will begin researching acupuncture.  May incorporate a daily dose of glucosamine and chondroitin as I did with my old arthritic lab which seemed to help him not long after I began that daily ritual.

Anyone have experience with acupuncture and their dogs?

Thnx!

Well that sucks, poor Brian has had more than his share of crap.  I got nothing on the acupuncture but my Lab did better on glucosamine and chondrointin too.  Later on aspirin helped, but with such a young dog I'd also be slow to use any pain relievers for chronic pain

Glucosamine and a half an aspirin work very well turning our old Border Collies back into puppies for a day

Stella

Ah yes....forgot about the coated aspirin.  Thnx!

Check on the coated part, that might just wind up out in the yard.

Oh?  I thought I had read that coated was better for their stomachs.  I'll look into that.  Thnx again!

Poor Brian.  Our dog Owen had osteoarthritis.  He was on aspirin for a couple of years and then Rymadal.

Swimming is good also.

Stella

We got a prescrip for the generic of rymidal but will only use that when it's bad - which we anticipate more pain when it's colder.

Swimming is out for two reasons:  cost (if we were to use a hydro therapy tub) and the request by his orthopedic vet not to let him swim since it could, over time, compromise the hardware that's in his back legs as he flicks them back during his paddling.

I was going to dress him up as a pirate for Halloween but thinking a lemon may be more appropriate.  A lemon with a four leaf clover stuck to it.  And a lucky rabbit's foot and a horse shoe....

What?  You don't think I should dress him as a lemon?   ;)
