somegirl

Thanks everyone.  She's got a bunch of stitches and staples and a drain, has been resting all day, got up once so far to pee and get a drink of water, took her pills (in peanut butter) and a little bit of rice but no appetite for anything else yet.  I'm taking her to our regular vet on Wednesday for a follow-up, she gets really stressed out by driving so I want to give her a bit of a break from it.

The pitbull owner was horrified and offered right away to pay the bills.  She will try from now on to keep her locked up (outside) but the pitbull is a bit of an escape artist.  We live in an extremely small tight-knit community so it's not all that straightforward.

I don't worry too much if I'm out by myself, it's when I have the dogs with me that we become a target.

At least she took responsibility. Keeping a dog isolated like that (if I'm understading the situation correctly) is a recipe for problems though, regardless of the breed. That's a huge bummer. Dogs that are escape artists are typically the ones that don't get enough walks from their owner.

+1 on getting some pepper spray for walks.

I'm so sorry to hear about Watson, somegirl.    :-\

Hey Dave, time to walk next door with a pistol.

I should not have looked at that pic. Now I wanna spend turkey day and drive over and fix the issue myself.....

While I'm sure it's effective, what about when they let their dog out in the yard? I've had the "honor" of meeting said pitbull. Time for night night.

For right now the owner is locking her in the garage during the day and a different neighbor takes her out once in the middle of the day.

The owner and two other neighbors called to check on Watson today, very sweet.

There is no way I could have used pepper spray in that situation without hitting all 3 dogs, btw.

Good to hear they're taking responsibility!!

This is one of the reasons I always carry around a pocket knife with me now.  You never know when you'll need one to use as a tool or to stab a crazy dog!   [cheeky]

I was pulling into my place in Phoenix last year when I heard screaming and yelling.  Looked across the street and a pitbull was attacking some guys dog as he was walking down the sidewalk with his baby and 2 dogs (similar situation, eh?!).  He was beating the dog on the head with his boot.  I'm sure it just made the pit more angry.  A neighbor came and grabbed the Pit and pulled it away with the other dogs skin still in it's mouth.  The whole leg peeled off like a sock!   The Pit then bit that guy trying to help. Animal Control came and eventually caught the dog.  I'm sure it was destroyed.

Sorry to hear about Watson.......that Pit Bull needs the "green dream"........we get so attached to our dogs.....Around 9months ago we had to put one of our Shih Tzu's down at the age of 15, its mate couldn't cope and shut up shop, dying 3 weeks later. We gave it a couple of months then went hunting for two more, best thing we ever did.
This is a video we took as a joke after a lot of Sydney OZMO's were asking me how i keep my bikes so clean, I told them i would post up a video....the one attached below......Just remember that these pups are much loved and pampered and always like to keep me company when I'm cleaning my Monster.......

Enjoy............   [thumbsup]

Our girl Fluffy has started doing that a lot lately, though at a hundred-plus pounds with her namesake long fur, she looks mostly like a large, fringed beanbag chair...
