Hey guys, I tried searching for anything on this but I couldnt find anything.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out a way to make a helmet hook/hanger for my S2R because the stock helmet holder is absolutely horrible.  I would imagine that a simple bracket that is attached to the frame under the seat (like most sportbikes) would be relatively easy to make and fairly effective.... anyone try this?

I don't know anyone who's ever tried it, but I would never leave my helmet.....

i usually wouldnt but I ride to church occasionally and would feel safe enough to leave it there. Plus it would just be nice to have the option to hang a helmet in a more convenient way.

I use a cable that is looped around my  disc lock with an alarm.

I have 2 crash helmets though. Well, i leave both of them on the bike because

a) i crashed in my shoei once already, and its pretty much worthless thats what i wear in city where i highly doubt my heads gonna ram anything at high speed (thats assuming i can even get to high speed first)

b) my Scoprion EXO-700 which is cheap (but still crash free!)

I only leave them in places that i know people wont make the beast with two backs with, aka places where people have enough money to buy my bike on the spot in cash. lol

I'm always amazed by the riders that just leave their helmet on the tank or seat.  I've seen so many dropped that way.

If I trusted everyone not to open a door into my helmet I would go with the aerostich.  But IMHO the worst time to find out your helmets been banged around a few times is when you need it to do it's job.

Maybe the first one. I tried the second and it's a miserable design, very difficult to operate and I was never sure it was actually locked.

Not that i ever want to drop or let my helmet fall to the floor, that very informative video Jay Leno has on his garage site where he interviews that rep from Arai. a helmet that just falls to the floor off a bike is still good and does not need to be replaced.

ive always been that guy that leaves the helmet on the bike.  i still have one of the stock mirrors, and i will just put the helmet over that with the mirror coming up out of the open face shield.  that way the only possible way it will hit the ground is if the bike is coming down with it.  ive noticed through the years people dont tend to mess with stuff like that if its out in the wide open.  not sure why, but they just dont.

dont know if my opinion counts though, im also the guy that parks his convertible with the top down, or my jeep with the doors off and just walks away with no second thought.  i grew up with the theory that if they want it, they will get it no matter what you do.

Ditto...

I have the DP Gel on mine, and use the hooks that are mounted to it. Works pretty well.

You could probably bolt that last one (non-locking)  right through the hollow brake/clutch lever pivot bolt.  Or if you don't use the stock mirror mounts, just buy a nice chromed allen bolt and put that into one of the mirror mount holes.  Hang your helmet right on it.
