Yet Another Scale Model - Soviet T34

For something different (I usually stick to German subjects) I built a WWII Soviet T34. This model has a full interior, pics below. Most is not visible on the assembled model, just what you can see through the hatches. Of note is that this is a small scale kit - it's 1/48th scale, as opposed to the usual 1/35th scale size for armour. It's about 6 inches long. This is a heavily worn winter camo scheme, usually the whitewash was roughly applied in the field and was water soluble. Thus it wore off quickly, this effect is achieved by painting the whole thing green as a base and then putting white gouache paint overtop - this was then rubbed off and chipped in strategic areas with rubbing alcohol to get the worn paint effect.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Nice job.

You must have sooooooooooooooooooome patience
Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

You've got some serious talent dude. As a kid, I had about 20 models laying around in various stages of assembly (including a C-130 w/ a 3 foot wingspan). Never finished any of them (ADD sucks).

When I was about 12, I spent a month or two on a very detailed A-6 Intruder. Looked fairly good, nothing like your stuff, but good for a kid w/ a shaky hand. My cousin knocked it off the table and broke it right before I finished it. I haven't touched a model since. I still have the C-130, in case I ever get the bug someday.

Next up on the bench is a 1/72 Panther with the crew standing on the hull, about to scatter from a strafing aircraft. It will make a neat vignette - the figures are about one inch high, the tank around 3.5 inches long, but the detail is amazing on them.

PS I just checked, the T34 is a whoppin' 5 inches long.

Hey NeuF-

You do excellent, excellent work.  Have you thought about doing full diorama vignettes?

Some (ahem) years ago, I went through a big model building stage, too - mostly aircraft at first, but then armor vehicles, etc.  Was getting a little bored with just the individual models.

Then I started to build the dioramas.  Blown up buildings, 1/2 tracks tearing through hedge-rows, guys on 50 cal's mowing down the infantry  ;D . . . This was in the pre-Xbox/PS3 era, you know.

It was almost as much fun researching old battlefield photos for inspiration as actually building them.

I'd bet that you could make some killer dioramas with that talent of yours.

I'm actually re-learning some diorama building skills - making groundwork and buildings is a skill in itself that I need to develop. I used to build vignettes and dioramas years ago, though they are pretty simple compared to what I am capable of today.

Amazing. Do you do much in the way of aircraft?
Respeta mi autoridad!

Nothing recent (I used to do the odd aircraft), but I have my eye on some of the new Hasegawa 1/32nd releases (FW190A and BF109G). They look like nice kits, and I like large scale aircraft.

The rust too. Is that a paint with iron in it?

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.
