I like fast trains. Imagine bringing your own what ever you want more than 3oz.

<geek warning>
(Just Coke sells 1,000,000,000,000 bottles, every day, world wide.
A typical 737 flight to LA uses around 200 plastic cups + plastic bottles/cans.True but do you really want to share a cup with the last person to sit in your seat? Because ---> the insulation in planes fills with water from humidity which ruins it,Not true so they dehumidify the interior to around 1%,Again (the they part) not true which is the driest place on earth. That's why you're always dying of thirst, catching illness, and generally feeling like poo when you land.True Consequently they use lots of bottles.)

I hate to be the wet blanket here in the midst of everyone's celebrations, but I'm not even close to recovered from this election.  Cry  I'm hoping my sense of humor will return in a matter of days or--worst case scenario--a coupla weeks.

Fret not, my friends. Elections weren't meant to give everyone everything they want. And as long as you come away with something and don't lose too much, you're better off than before. And remember: this is a blip in time. Peoples' attitudes change as time goes on. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

But I want a high-speed train ride!  cheeky

I assume we are talking about prop 8 here.
ok sorry if I am getting political, but this movement should look at successful civil rights movements of the past for direction. MLK comes immediately to mind.

People on the fence are much more receptive to "I have a Dream" Than "It's gonna happen. Whether you like it or not!".

Seriously?  Where are they putting you up?

It's just a day trip, but when I've stayed overnight, it was either at Kellogg West on Cal Poly's campus or Casa 425 in Claremont.

I had thoughts along similar lines. There's usually a backlash against folks fighting for rights via the courts. That's what happened with the Civil Rights movement and its victories in the courts, but those were supplemented with a grassroots movement that ultimately led to legislative and societal change as well. Still, there was a backlash. There's plenty of finger-pointing going on, but in ten, maybe fifteen years, society's attitudes will change. Like I said...it's a marathon, not a sprint. It requires engagement and consensus-building, instead of abrasive politicians preaching to the faithful. And it requires that we as Americans understand that there's a difference between our personal religious beliefs and our national identity. That's not something that'll happen overnight.
