Can someone, succinctly, non-partisan, and a reader's digest version, explain electoral vote vs. popular vote please?

Not here....

That's politics...

and the politics forum is locked. ;)

Troublemaker.

Even if the politics section was open, I don't think it's possible to explain it in that manner....

The method of voting isn't really political, it is historical.

Popular vote is your vote and my vote and everyone else' votes added together happening today.

The Electoral vote happens Dec 15th, and each state gets a number of votes based roughly on population.  The electoral mirrors the popular vote for that state, but maybe not the entire country.

^^^^^This looks very "political".  I'm insulted.

Sorry, but if the electoral college mirrors the popular vote for each state and the number of votes are assigned by poulation, why have an electoral college?

Read your history, young son, read your history.

OK, then maybe I should have phrased it like "The electoral college is outdated and no longer relevant"....

That would still get the same response.  Read up on why the Founders believed that an Electoral College was so critical.  Also consider States' Rights and State Sovereignty, as well.

3-5 single-spaced pages, with notations, are due on my desk by 3pm tomorrow.  ;D
