OKay whos been? i did it, (god alwful experience because of the person i was with) but the jump was awesome. I have to admit though, riding the twisties is a bit more fun. And a track day would be much more worth it, but jumping out of an airplane is so peaceful. I guess its a concentration vs being somewhere that many people havent been. I think i may have found myself a summer job, and i could go with doing a jump every 2 weeks until i can jump by myself. The best part was dangling my feet out of the airplane, and the inital jump to terminal velocity after that it was just smooth sailing. We did a few spins, but i like going straight down like a bullet better. We didnt pop the canopy until 3,000feet though, and after 5000 the ground seemed to be comming in pretty damn quick.

Was i scared? not really
Nervous? not really.
I wish i could dangle my feet out of the airplane longer. Or carry more weight on me so i can reach a higher terminal velocity though. I best part was still the first 10 seconds of sitting on the edge and the intial jump. But the freefall was probably the most calming thing you could ever do. Nothing but clear sky, air, and frozen finger tips!

On the way home, we took a cab to the train station, the cab driver had an anxiety attack hearing about my friend talk about it. He pulled over and started shaking. said he didnt want to crash the car, and he just sat there sweating.

Different things scare different people. Personally, I'd never jump out of a plane unless it were about to explode. On the other hand, I've shown people movies of my 13 year-old while scuba diving entering the Devil's Throat in Cozumel at 120 feet and they think we're totally insane for doing that sort of thing. One person's thrills are another's panic and a third person's boredom, I suppose.

I couldn't agree more. I knew someone who kept tarantulas as pets. Now, really...

What an odd coincidence! I was just discussing how I have never thought about skydiving without seeing my own death.  I am just that certain.

Somehow, an abject fear of heights and a mild fear of flying probably doesn't make me a good candidate for sky diving Lips Sealed

I did a tandem jump years ago.  There was a woman in our plane who was so scared she started chanting, "I don't think I can do this." over and over as she and her dive master squatted in the open doorway.  After about 5 times all we heard was "I don't think..." and she was gone.  On the ground everyone was so jacked up on adrennaline that couldn't stop talking about how cool it had been.

Highly recommend this activity and buy as much airspace as they offer.  It's over so quickly.

Didn't Gallileo Gallilei demonstrate that a little while back?

By definition Terminal velocity is the speed at which the force of drag (air resistance) is equal to a persons weight. Constant velocity = no acceleration = no net force acting on a particular object. (F=MA).
A larger mass requires a higher force of drag. And unless you have the coefficient of drag similar to a moving wall, a larger mass would yield a higher terminal velocity.

Galileo's stated that mass does not affect acceleration due to gravity. So a fat man and a skinny man would accelerate at the same speed.

+ the jump master said they've reach 180 with a total tandem mass over 300+lbs
