next time when you dress the wound use an over the counter product like Tegaderm or similar thing, basically it takes the place of using guaze as a protective layer, its a dressing absically what you do is you clean teh wound , maybe put on some ointment of your choosing then put this Tegaderm on.  its a clear plastic style stuff but the thing is that it seals your body fluids in, but still let's the wound "breathe".  it won't dry out, and you are supposed to leave it on for 4-6 days till new skin starts up.  basically it lets your body do its work and doesn't let dirt get into the wound.

next time if you get this have handy the Band aid brand wound wash, all it is is saline solution, but the kicker is it has Lidocaine in it.  meaning it will sting like heck for the first 2-4 seconds you spray it on, but then bc of the pain killing effect of lidocain, you will have about 1.5-2 minutes where you can't feel the laceration to clean it out, i'm talking if you have to pull out rocks or hairs, etc, you will be able to do so and not feel a thing (obviously this is only  for surface wounds/simpler burns/not serous road rash not something like a major thing where it could be life threatening.)

i'm not a doctor but have used these methods in teh past when dealing with road rash from road cycling and it works well.

of course consult your doctor and take their advice before taking the advice of a bunch of schmoes on a motorcycle forum board.   [laugh]good luck.

next time if you get this

no  Grin

Not bad!  If you want the scar to be less noticeable, check out products like Mederma.  Make sure you also have full flexibility in your ankle since that scar tissue isn't nearly as elastic as the original skin and that's a pretty big scar.

no.  Tongue

Pain is temporary, glory lasts forever, besides chicks dig scars. well this one aint so glorious. 1 more and i make it to 10, easily recgnoizable scars. 3 of them on my legs. 3 on my face. and the others are scattered. awesome. lol
