Maybe not even that long.  The US and UK apple stores (online at least) are out of iPhones and won't be getting any more.  There's some very strong rumors floating around that we may see the 3G iPhone as soon as this or next week!

The HR dept at my old job, myself included, wrote ourselves up because for 2 weeks we did nothing but read Maddox's site.

OMFG is that funny!

"The technology is called "tactile response," and it allows you to do things like dial a phone number without staring at your screen like a shit-chucking ape."

I make the beast with two backsing lost it when I read that about the ape.  [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

I loooove my 16gb Iphone.  The only thing i regret is that i had to give up getting picture texts (cause the iphone don't do dat) from the hot asian girl at work....  and they were getting increasingly risque too.

ah well

google maps on it was friggin perfect when i drove up to s. illinois a month ago.  every exit was on point mileage was very very close to perfect and the iphone handled it all perfectly.  of course most of that is thanks to google, but the iphone did manage it well.

It sucks because the keyboard on it is impossible to use at a respectable speed. Its main feature that i like is the large screen and direct youtube/google earth capability. Does it have GPS?
But yes, if i cant type as fast as a blackberry, or sidekick it sucks. i think i could beat myself with an oldschool predictive text phone.

FWIW, I shared the same opinion until I bought one.  It takes some getting used to.  You have to stop doing what touch typers are used to (backspacing to correct mistakes) and let it auto-correct, then the speed increases.

I got my iPhone refurbished from AT&T for $249 (8GB).  I'm sure they'll drop in price pretty soon with 3G coming out.  Every so often AT&T will ahve the refurbs up for sale on their website.  I got one, unlocked it, but after using it for 3 months I'm not as impressed anymore.  I actually prefer my old Sony Ericsson when it comes to text messaging and keeping it in my pocket on rides.  The iPhone currently has no MMS feature (Multimedia Messaging) and no native method to transfer contacts from SIM.  The text messaging kinda sucks because there's no draft folder.  You can be in the middle of composing a message just to lose it entirely when you're interrupted by a phone call.  Other than that, it's real purdy and let's me look up email easily.  Oh, people with big fingers need not apply.

I'm pretty sure my iphone saves my text messages when I get a call in the middle of composing them.  Mine is locked, maybe that's why?  I know for sure it saves emails that are being written when I get a phone call in the middle of it.

Well, it looks like my company is sticking with verizon so the iPhone is out.

Im looking at this thing now -->http://www.xv6900.com/

Similar, but seems like it has less limitations.

And I think I can run a terminal emulator on it  8)
