2001 Monster 900 fork swap Questions

Attention all of you 2001 900 Monster owners and anyone else this applies to.  I know most of you have done the fork swap because I think most of us got stuck with the non adjustable forks.  I myself was not one of the lucky ones and I didn't get the showas (damn).  Anyway, what I'm looking for is any of you guys/girls that have done the fork swap and what make/model bike should I be looking for which will fit our bikes.  And does anyone kow the measurments?  Or where you measure from, the bottom of the brake calipiers or the top?
      Yes I know this subject has been covered ad nausem, but hopefully I will not get beaten up too much because this is such a limiting fork swap question.  Also share experiences, cost, what you went with, used or new, whether it was worth it, and most of all, pics.
