I'm not trying to be insensative, but "conditions like that" ?!?

She is still inside. I bet you if it is 50 in there it is a hell of a lot colder outside.
And there are plenty of people that have to work outside.

Yeah, it sucks, but it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Get some warm coffee, wear a coat, grab a blanket and keep moving.

I'm no HR manager, but I'd say that providing adequate facilities for you to do your work is the responsibility of the employer.

As long as you're not going to get too far behind (and the monkeys aren't going to fling too much poo without you there) I say you're justified.

But that's just me.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

what are the rules regarding that?
is it legitimate to stay home? or am i required to make myself warm by bringing a space heater in?

A lot of business actually forbid space heaters - risk of fire.  Their insurance mandates it.

its all relative to a person's job. her job is not a construction worker's job that keeps her moving.

i didn't say it was the worst thing ever and she should sue or anything. christ.

You could do what we do. Wear long johns underneath sweats or jeans, wear a down vest, walk around with blankets draped over your shoulders and wear a hat and 2 or 3 pairs of socks. It works.  ;)

The old condo wouldn't turn the heat on until Oct 20.  Oil filled space heaters are relatively efficient.

Get a small space heater for under your desk.  Use it until someone tells you that you can't.
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Have your boss spill hot coffee on you?

I would go home. Seriously. It's not worth it.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I just don't like your boss  :P

me either... he's a total jackass! and i just saw that he's got a space heater in his office  >:(

if it's still off tomorrow, i'm staying home.
but, it takes me 45 min. to get to work...
so if i wait until someone's in the office to ask if the heat is on,
i'll be wicked late...

...right now, i don't really care.
