I was just wondering if the mods plan on starting something like a premium membership. I miss my Titanium member.

I suppose it depends on whether the point is to provide financial support for the board or to have a visible display of specialness.

I never bought Titanium Membership on the other board since as far as I could tell it was doing fine financially. I've donated through the PayPal link because I think this board probably really does need the support. I don't particularly need any merit badges for doing so.

As much as it provides incentive for those who are motivated by such 'specialness' its a good marketing tool.  Knowing that these boards are expensive to keep running it may be a necessary evil as we probably can't count on philanthropy.  My $.014 of course.

The big difference here is we don't want to make money from this.

I like Jeff and do not begrudge him anything he made from his efforts. He took chances...

I spent countless hours donating my time there.

This place was set up specifically with no profit in mind.

There are seven of us, and as long as costs are met, and the people that make this community what it is are happy, then we've achieved our goal.

I'll even relinquish my "Flounder" moniker if that's what it takes.

I thought the Titanium membership was a way to get a liitle money without having to prostitute the forum to commercial marketing.  I wouldn't mind paying $25 bucks to keep a non-profit forum going if that keeps all of the ads limited.

Ditto- all I ask is that if it looks like we're going to run red at any point that we open the phone lines for community support.  We can even use IZ as a poster child which ought to make even the stingiest among us break down and cry (maybe even contribute some $$$).   ;D

Totally thinking out of my pie hole but if we wanted to we could use any "Excess Funds" for an annual group donation to downed riders funds, family support, etc.  Accounting shouldn't be difficult if it's run through Paypal as the seven of you would each have oversight.  This could help us become a full fledged Ducati Owners Group or whatever they're called, if we'd like that sort of status anyhow.

If you aren't going to offer titanium name tags to make those of us who pay feel better then everyone else, will you at least promise to have really creative and funny titles assigned to the higher levels of the "number of posts" star system?

I'm assuming "Daffe-Like," is no longer appropriate, but I expect something excellent!

Yea, I would think the generation of a little cash to provide $$$ for a server/software/ or whatever it takes to ensure that the people maintaining the board have the tools to make it as reliable or as fast or as whatever? as needs be.

I'll happily pony up.

I'd be willing to kick in something.  I won't be renewing at the other site and I'm trying to cut back on strip clubs - so that frees up a few bucks.
