It can never live up to the hype of making people wait since 94.  That said I'm going to buy it.  May not be as
good as the old GnR but still better than alot of other cd's being sold right now

I think you can listen to most of it on myspace.  i haven't had time to digest it yet.

Let's face it, Guns had exactly one (1) great album and that was Appetite.  The rest was all drama and stage presence.

"It’s easy to imagine Mr. Rose determined to outdo his own brazen youth and his old band, but with less perspective and hundreds of new tracks as each year goes by. If Guns N’ Roses had released “Chinese Democracy” in 2000, it would still have been an event, but it might also have been treated as the transitional album in a band’s continuing career. By holding it back and tinkering with it for so long, Mr. Rose has pressured himself to make it epochal — especially if, on this timetable, the next Guns N’ Roses studio album doesn’t arrive until 2025. And fans were waiting for him to defy the world again, not to do another digital edit. Sometime during the years of work, theatricality and razzle-dazzle replaced heart."

I didn´t find the first song that bad.. has slight Marilyn Manson vibe to it.

I prefer the new AC DC Black Ice album, again not as good as their older stuff but I like it.

Illusion was a crock

+1

They sucked. I too picked them up on CD...after a shit ton of hype...and was sorely disappointed. Lies was a piece of shit as well.

Apetite is the ONLY good GNR album. Period.

the illusion albums had a great mix of artists

from Alice Cooper and Shanon Hoon doing vocals

to

Mike Monroe and Aaron Arkeen penning lyrics and playing backup

I really liked both those albums

wore the tapes out twice

Coma was by far my favorite track

I have to agree, I bought the box set on CD. I liked just about every song on both albums and, like Jacob, Coma was my favorite...

Illusion had it's moments, and Lies was just filler. Axl's a talentless shit. The only thing he has going for him is the GnR name.

I can understand people's disgust over the hype

I never experience it

I tune that shit out

my first experience with Chinese Democracy was just a few weeks ago

i was listening to a song that

to me

was a refreshing change from the "hard edged emo crap" on the radio these days

and

it dawned on me that it was axl

so i like it so far

Local paper reviewed it as 'Unlistenable' Too scattered and too out of touch due to the length of time it was done over.  Reviewer though it could have been decent, if had at least been timely but the songs aren't strong enough to give them any sort of timeless appeal.

All that being said... I'm curious since I haven't heard any of it myself.  Open mind, low expectations is where I sit...
